I'm surprised Bill gave a speech at all

Posted: Sep 5, 2012

actually.  I know Bill is a popular democratic president and all but I would have thought he would have avoided that kind of thing especially if Hillary decides to run in '16.  If Obama gets re-elected and things don't improve or, God forbid, get worse, that isn't gonna help Hillary much when she runs next.

I'm curious on something else as well.  Is there anyone on this board who voted for Obama but actually wanted Hillary?

I really have no problem if some of you dislike my posts, but I must admit that it does irritate me when you dislike them but don't post a reply.

Maybe because you dared to - question the integrity of their idol Clinton?

How dare you! ;)

...of the beast! :-D Someone "disliked" my post that was simply telling you "see my post below," without leaving a reply as to why they disliked it. It happens. :-)

(And in case you're wondering: No, I didn't "dislike" my own post just to make a point. Someone ACTUALLY disliked "see my post below" - LOL.)

Libs are very childish. They know you are a Cons. Simple. - nm"""

That works both ways...my post simply - saying: "See my post below"...

[ In Reply To ..]
....got two dislikes. How do you explain that? Childish conservatives, perhaps?

Remember the old saying: "When you point a finger, there are three fingers pointing back at you."

Beats me, didn't sound offensive to me. As for Ex-Prez, - a lot of people admire him. A liberal. NM

Win or lose, I don't see how Clinton's speech tonight will have a negative effect on Hillary if she decides to run. On second question, I voted for Obama and wanted Obama from the start. Nothing against Hillary, though; and I'd vote for her in 2016 if she ran.

I voted for John Edwards in my primary - bootstraps

[ In Reply To ..]
I honestly feel like my vote was wasted in light of the events that followed. And that is putting it very lightly.

My second choice was Hillary. I was in her demographic, if that might answer your question.

But on a personal note, one memory that burns in my mind was when my daughter and I were off to the polls that morning to vote in FL primaries (her FIRST vote ever). She was undecided still at that point. I was 24/7 on the TV. As we were preparing to leave, I told her Hillary was ahead in the polls for our state.

I can't really describe the look on her face, but it was like, "NOT IF I CAN HELP IT!!"

Yeah, if I didn't waste my primary vote on Edwards I would have voted for Hillary, but my daughter went on to college in the I4 corridor and engaged young Americans in a way my demographic might not have been able to.

I thought I heard Hillary say she was done with everything after this term. But even if she did run in 2016 I don't think Bill would be a liability in any way.

I don't think Hillary would have met with as much obstructionalism as Obama did if she had been elected, so maybe she would have been a more effective president... IF she was elected.

I am very satisfied with the values and goals and accomplishments of this administration. I don't think it will get worse if Obama is reelected, but we can debate that when/if it happens!

Great question!!

I voted for Hillary Clinton in the primary because I knew quite a bit about her and felt she would make a good president. I was never a big John Edwards fan. President Obama was a relative unknown at the time, but I grew to really like him and his ideas. Of course, I voted for President Obama in the general election and plan on doing so again in November and do not regret it.

Same here. I regretted losing our first woman president, but was happy - to have such a good "second choice." :)

Well, if you still think he was a good 2nd choice - you might need to clean your glasses.

very, very low campaign, when he tried desperately to hold his base together, there was no chance I could have voted for him. Talk about flip-flopping, and all from the light of the informed to serve the darkness of ignorance. Anyway, by then it was only a question of how badly he was going to lose.

Plus, there was the little issue of Vice President Palin to a 72-year-old president who'd had several bouts with cancer.

Plus, Senator Obama's positions were essentially the same as mine and Hillary Clinton's. Not that much difference.

What was the last one? Oh, yeah. I'm a liberal. :) Have a nice day.
The problems with your reply... - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
First, it doesn't address the point. What I said was, if you STILL believe he was a "good 2nd choice"...not what you might have believed at the time.

Second, you suggest that BO and HC were on the same page philosophically. Anyone who thought that then (much less still thinks so) either doesn't know very much about Hillary Clinton, wasn't following the primaries very closely, or hasn't thought much about how different an HC presidency would have looked compared to the one we've been suffering through.

Third, you say "I'm a liberal", without any other qualifiers. My own view is that - as a matter of civic, patriotic duty - no citizen should allow themselves to be defined by either side. Logically, it isn't possible for a rational person to be "liberal" or "conservative". Given the broad range of issues that we must deal with, neither side has "the answers" and we are in such terrible trouble now that we need to at least consider ideas that might come from either direction.

Never say, or let yourself be trapped by labels like "I'm a liberal" or "I'm a conservative". We need to keep our heads up, and our powder dry.

Yes, I voted for Obama - but wanted Hillary

still do

Trump Just Gave The Speech Republicans Have Been Waiting 20 Years To HearJun 22, 2016
Donald Trump did what Republicans have begged their presidential candidate to do for months — lay out the case, from A-to-Z, against Hillary Clinton. Trump didn't hold back in a blistering speech Wednesday. He went through chapter and verse of every criticism — based in fact or conspiracy theory — against the Clintons. In sum, Trump said, Hillary Clinton may be "the most corrupt person ever to seek the presidency of the United States" and a "world-class liar." Donald Trump spe ...

Bill Clinton Says He's Surprised By Midterm LosesNov 16, 2014

Democrats could have benefited from a national message that reinforced the party's positions on refinancing student loans a ...

I used to be an avid church-goer. Catholic, back when you went into a confessional to confess what you felt was a sin. Then one day, the priest (in all his glory) during a mass said, "I forgive you all for whatever you have done." That really got my goat. You didn't even have to feel bad about whatever it was you did, you were just now automatically forgiven, in one big swoop. I knew people in that church that were horrible to their children and spouses. So, I just knew that they went to c ...

Alaskan Native Status Gave A Tiny Firm A Big $250 M ContractNov 26, 2010
Another why the government gets around the bidding for contracts.   In summer 2008, the U.S. military had a major problem. The Army responded by reaching out to a tiny firm in Delaware. It was an unlikely choice for such a sensitive task.
