Game plan - "Train the next generation..."

Posted: Jan 18, 2013

M. Obama posted a video showing her plans for us: Apparently she's started a new organization called 'Organizing For Action' and said it's the 'next phase of our movement for change.' that it will 'aim to train the next generation of grassroots organizers and leaders, and organize around local issues in American communities.' It's never enough for her. ;

Did you know they teach first year college students (sm) - NM

[ In Reply To ..]
training to be teachers (white) to admit up front that they are racists and start from there. I heard it first.

I hope you're kidding about that. - No?

[ In Reply To ..]
Yikes!

Racism among teachers is a serious problem, especially - because most don't recognize it in themselves

[ In Reply To ..]
until they're taught to, hopefully before they have to be shown by such devices as video of their own behaviors. After all, most of these students are practically kids themselves and haven't really had much chance to develop and question the attitudes they were raised with. Racism can manifest simply by hardly measurable lower standards, for instance; it doesn't have to involve actually calling others "childlike" in their inadequacy.

Even more so for sex discrimination, and we are mostly talking female teachers here who are typically shocked to find they're shortchanging the girls in favor of the boys.

Teaching teachers about themselves is the first step to competence. Or, as physicians learn, first do no harm.

What a racist thing - for them to do.

[ In Reply To ..]
If whites are racists, so are the others.

they didn't do it - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I cannot document the allegation, and I doubt you can, either. Remember: just because someone posts something doesn't mean it's true. Don't be too quick to buy it - unless that's your preference, of course.

show me where you heard that, please - (hard to believe)

[ In Reply To ..]

I'm not the OP (NM), and not trying to put words - in NM's mouth

[ In Reply To ..]
but I suspect that may be her satirical comment on the OP's omission of the "g" aka baiting.

mmm...I don't know - - hopefully, she will get back to us. Thanks
[ In Reply To ..]

would you kindly provide a reference for this? - thanks

The horror. The horror. - Fanatical Hypocrite

People active in their communities? Neighbors helping neighbors? People getting along? Helping the less fortunate? Fighting for causes they believe in? Truly, how could such a nightmare scenario come true in America? What would our Lord and Savior Ayn Rand think?

The American youth need to be taught that the only person worth helping is yourself and the only cause worth fighting for is the status quo, regardless of socioeconomic situation.

It's these sorts of communist principles of working together and political action that ended classic American traditions like slavery and the institutionalized disenfranchisement of women and minorities.

I agree with you. Education always means indoctrination. That's why I think school system should be dismantled and reading and writing should be banned except for the aristocracy. If it worked for my great great great great great great great great great great grandfather, it should be the same way now.

You know who else "took actions" and "did things"? Hitler. Think about that.

:) You know, OP, a large majority of Americans consider - this admirable and honorable.

[ In Reply To ..]
Just as most of us believe in our republican form of government by the people, and that we are supposed to run our governments, local, state, and national, through the representatives we choose.

Are you sure you have a clear understanding of what she wants to achieve? A dem

So - you asked the majority of Americans if they consider this admirable? - SM

[ In Reply To ..]
Who's to say what causes to believe in? The Govt? Certainly not. I do believe that Americans in general (myself included) are kind and generous and will help a fellow human being in need. I do not, however, believe I should be forced to do so, nor do I believe that the Govt should decide what is or is not a worthy cause. Does that make me a bad person? I suspect many of you will think so and I will get plenty of "dislikes." I, however, believe it simply makes me free to think for myself and make my own decisions. For now at least, this is still a free county where we are allowed to do so.
who's forcing you? It's a NONPROFIT - nm

Our newly reelected President gets sworn in tomorrow. - Go eat worms. :) nm

why did you type organizin' ? - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Did you see it transcribed that way somewhere? Just curious. She certainly pronounces it correctly in her video.

As for the word "train", I did hear it used in a sentence, but I tend to think "Amtrak" rather than "indoctrination". I mean, it's just as reasonable and far less paranoid.

Very sorry for my typo - correction has been made

[ In Reply To ..]
It should read "Organizing."

thanks - nm

[ In Reply To ..]

Interesting typo, but good for you for remedying it. - nm

And good for all of you - SM
[ In Reply To ..]
to jump on the typo and completely miss the point of the post - little oversensitive?
Wasn't the point to criticize Michelle Obama? - my take
[ In Reply To ..]
"M. Obama posted a video showing her plans for us:"

Misrepresentation. It's not a plan for "us" (unless a Democrat, maybe). It's a plan for an organization in which no one is being forced to participate.

"Apparently she's started a new organization called..."

It's not a new organization and she didn't start it. Organizing for America (old name) has been around several years.

"It's never enough for her." Quite a critical remark.

If there was some other point to the post, I must have missed it for all the Michelle jabs.

Not oversensitive, just observant.

Yeah, been around since he was first elected and according to - PolitiFact, out of 3 statements made
[ In Reply To ..]
2 were half-truths and 1 was a Pants-on-Fire; i.e., a group made up of liars.
we got the point just fine - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
no one jumped on the typo. We inquired about it. We even gave the poster the full benefit of the doubt in spite of the distance between "g" and "'" on the keyboard! Maybe you are a little oversensitive?

Did you purposely replace the "g" with an apostrophe? - bootstraps

[ In Reply To ..]
Why did you do that?

It's OrganizinG For Action.

She didn't start it, she announced/launched it.

It more or less replaces Organizing for America.
