And her guest, the motivational speaker, "I am for the positive message... you do have to mix in unfortunately the facts with the really good stuff." (So the facts are not what you are teaching to begin with, but some of them may be necessary?)

AT: Teaching at the University level is trickling down to our kids (good thing in my mind, then on with foot in mouth)... "we are behind so many countries in math and in science, ...they are not even getting the basic education because they are getting a bunch of this meaningless liberal crap...." (Pure B.S. The schools have a schedule and they are teaching math and science...they don't sit in kumbaya circles and denounce the government).

What a load of dung. Yeah, home school everyone. The dumb get dumber. And, no that is not to say that all of the current home schoolers are dumb, some of the most magnificent educations come from homeschooling, even some with a religious bend, but if you leave everyone to their own devices for education, or seeking charter schools (another name for public schools run by private corporations), the general populace won't be able to work at Taco Bell.

A moment about public school: This is our first year in public school. My kids were in private schools up until 8th and 4th grade (2 different kids). Little to no homework because they cannot count on parents and family life to support accomplishing homework. Education cannot happen in the 8 hours they are in school, just isn't happening. And, come to find out in the 4th graders class that 1/2 of the class doesn't even do the weekly homework packet that they are given, 50%! What is this, daycare? In my locale it is conservatives that are the poorly educated and the liberals are all about education, but I live in a COLLEGE town, so that explains that.
