Do you really think who we want as president matters?

Posted: Apr 13, 2015

I think it doesn't matter who WE as Americans want as our president. I believe somewhere in the dark halls of Washington they already know who is going to run and who is going to be the next president. Remember 2008 when Hillary was way ahead in the polls and was pretty much a shoe-in and then here came the unknown Barack Obama and not only beat her out but also won the presidency. I believe and feel free to call me a pessimist, that was part of a purpose by "much larger powers" to cause the havoc he has caused. All part of the plan. To this day I can't figure out how he won. An absolute nobody who knew nothing about foreign policy, was not a Washington lifer, whose background was questionable from the get go and yet he won the presidency. That is not how Washington works and we all know it. Remember Michelle Obama's comment while he was running about this was the first time in her adult life she was proud to be an American? And he still won? Remember George Bush and the hanging chads to win. The people spoke in that election and Bush should not have won but he did. All part of the plan, maybe to go after Iraq? Maybe to start the downhill turn of this country. I am sure that was the first time the "hanging chads" ever happened in the history of elections. I am sure that never happened before. Right. Did any of us see all the hanging chads? Could it just have been a manipulation to get what the "higher powers" wanted? The popular vote made no difference. First time in history our say made no difference or so we think. Since when has Washington ever cared about what we say or want? They do what they want because they know much more than we do. Or so they think. I look at it like a chess game. The "higher powers" are the kings, we are the "pawns" and they knock us over to get their "checkmate." So if the "higher powers" want Hillary as part of their plan, and I could be wrong but this time I believe they do, she will win. In the meantime we do our duty to go out and vote because they want us to think WE the American people have a voice. But do we really? So I have my hard hat on and am ready. As you can tell I have no trust or faith in our "system." If our forefathers who wrote our constitution are watching they are also turning over in their graves at how their words have been manipulated over and over again. ;

I'm right there with you - no faith at all in our system - nm

a voice and a vote and will continue to use them. Who said all it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing?

No argument here, but can't speak for others. I'd keep your hard hat on ;) - Independent Thinker

I wasn't going to say anything else because I've said enough this morning on threads I missed while out last night, but sometimes people confuse us, I think, because we both write lengthier posts and have similar views, but not entirely. May I just say I'm flattered anyone would confuse me with Nana7, not offended:)

I'd forgotten about that in 2008 with Hillary and Obama, thanks for the reminder. And those dodgy election results of 2000? Or in 2004 when living in Florida - the very next election AFTER the dodgy messes in Florida and Ohio, mind you - they handed me a "bubble" type paper ballot to slide through the computer, but the "private" terminals to fill them out were full. So I took a pencil and filled it out against the wall along with about 20 other people. The elderly lady next to me dropped hers on the floor and couldn't get it. So I picked it up and said, "Here you go. What the...isn't this crazy? What if I was dishonest, I could just change your results. Why don't they wait until the terminals are free and THEN hand us the ballots?"

I guess we like to discuss these things because it gives us the "illusion of control." Because even if there was no corruption, there's still the electoral college. Who are these people? They're made up of pre-approved existing party members in our state. I just don't get how they vote sometimes despite the popular vote, when they're supposed to represent us by population. I guess I'm hoping that one day that discrepancy that sometimes happens between the electoral college and the popular vote will be so overwhelming that it will be glaringly apparent, but since voting fraud goes on so much, who knows.

Agree with most of what you say - anonie

For years, it has always been the choice of the lesser of two evils.

You can bet the election was bought and paid for or fixed in some way, especially in Ohio.

I don't think there should be any swing states and that we all should have the same primary date and that all the candidates should be on the ballot, not just two or possibly three with an independent.

I think Bush winning over the global warming nut was good. I would not have wanted him for president.

Anyway, we are not stupid but people have got to be willing to stand up and expose these people and their ways. However, I imagine they are either bought off or threatened in some way.

The popular vote should be considered in this. This electoral college thing is the corrupt thing in this whole mess.

"Global warming nut"? It is called climate change, largely....sm - VTMT

due to man. This is accepted as fact by 99% of the scientists throughout the world. "An INCONVENIENT Truth" was an apt name for Al Gore's book. I guess it is easier for people to live in denial and do nothing.

it won't count for anything. Our government has been corrupt for decades, and is only getting worse. It's been put up for sale, bought and paid for.

Money talks in the good ol' US of A, and as usual, those who have the most of it will be the ones pulling the strings and tweaking the results.

Even to casual observers, it has been obvious for months that the left is orchestrating a tightly-coordinated campaign to undermine and delegitimize the current presidential administration. As an extension of the decades-long campaign to wrestle the narrative away from conservatives, independents and centrists, they’re smearing right-leaning commentators with anything they can find. In the take-down of Bill O’Reilly and Monica Crowley and attempted hit on Sean Hannity, for example, it’ ...

Part of what he says is tax cuts will help do that.  We have seen through decades that this has not created jobs and merely put more money in the pockets of the wealthy.  We have a wage gap that is out of this world.  I understand businesses are in business to make money, but there was a time when employers shared the wealth with their employees while still making a good profit themselves, and those times seem to have disappeared.   What things could he do to ensure that the ...
