Clear choices.

Posted: Oct 7, 2012

I am middle-aged. Sometimes in past elections when I have voted for President, my guy has won and sometimes he has lost, but one thing has been consistent. I might feel confident in victory or somewhat dejected in defeat, but I have always slept well that night--knowing that in 4 more years, whatever came or went, America would be fundamentally sound and our leaders (President in chief) would steer us safely through whatever lay ahead. This year, both presidential candidates have stated themselves they are offering a clear choice. There are many issues on both sides this election, but actually all of them will be approached according to those two clear choices. Do we want more government involvement, a more socialistic form of government (along the line of Europe's), and do we want to continue the same path we have been on for 4 years by voting for President Obama. Or, do we want smaller government, more individual freedom, and return to a system that promotes equal opportunity but does not guarantee equal reward and success by voting for Governor Romney. Personally, I do not want American to be fundamentally changed, and I fear that if Obama wins, I will not recognize this country in 4 more years.

IF Obama is really the illegitimate son of communist Marshall Davis and has been indoctrinated with communism since age 9, not American born and therefore it is not legal for him to hold the office of President, is backed and controlled by mobsters and gangsters, and snores in his sleep, and Governor Romney is backed by a corrupt right-wing capitalistic group who has been plotting to control the country for years and now has both Romney and Ryan in their pockets, cheats on his taxes,
and despite his upbringing of wealth and privilege, uses the wrong spoon when he eats soup; and IF the Bilderberg meeting attendees and the Masons have supposedly been steering
us in the direction of ruin for years and the Bilderbergers were supposed to have backed Obama in the last election, yet they are supposed to be behind Romney in this one at this year's meeting--they DO hold the meetings, and President Woodrow Wilson sold out America many years ago, and all or most of the above is true, we are as a nation indeed sca-rooed because not only do we not have a clear choice, we don't have any choice. I am sure some of you will say I am a fool, but I will, for now, go with believing both candidates when they say they are offering a clear choice and take both candidates at their own word as to the kind of future they see and want for America and vote for Romney.

People need to remember that the more they allow government to take over their lives, the harder it is to reclaim it.

too much "government" which parts would you like to get rid of? The military? Schools? The post office? Regulatory bodies (FDA,EPA). Medicare? Social Security? Food stamps? About the most any politician, especially Reps, can come up with these days is PBS, fine, get rid of it and kill Big Bird; I don't watch it anyway.
The government operates to support itself... - SK1

The size of our government is out of control, agencies to oversee agencies, government sticking its nose into every aspect of the citizens' business. It's becoming way too big brotherish and government itself has become big business.

Nobody (at least nobody I'VE seen) is suggesting that we "get rid of" anything, simply to scale it back to the point where the government is truly working for the people, not itself.
Which people? Smaller government will first and last benefit the - wealthy. BETTER government is good for
[ In Reply To ..]
everyone, but people have been trained to demand SMALLER government--not quite the same thing at all.
Better government does not equal bigger government. (nm) - SK1

Do you know Reagan strongly supported the Earned Income Tax Credit? - me

...which added immensely to the 47 percent of people who do not pay taxes and which some people consider a socialistic idea?

Did you like Reagan? Did you vote for him? Do you know anyone who benefits form the Earned Income Tax Credit? How about Social Security or Medicare? Do you consider those socialistic programs? Because there are any people on the far-right wing who want to see those programs destroyed or changed in such a fundamental way that they would be unrecognizable.

or should I say scare tactics? Have you heard them say anything about this lately? I think your statement of 49 students per class has disintegrated; i.e., proven wrong, or else the democrats would keep hammering on that.

and what is wrong with this country. Democrats want only democrats and nobody else. The problem with that is when one party is in that's it. Oh hey, I've got an idea. Lets vote in all republicans, no democrats, pass anything we went whether or not its good for the country, make a republican president King so he will be president until the day he dies and citizens don't have a say in it. Just make sure its ALL republicans and no democrats. Would that be fair? We have two parties for a reason. The democrats are failing the people of the country. It's time to give the republicans the opportunity to fix it. I think the wrong people whether they are democrat or republican should be voted out and replaced with someone who will help the country. Right now not too many democrats will or even want to.

an appeal to civic duty, some some little pokes to keep that fear actiive. Now, I'm pretty sure fear doesn't work well on me. If-it-bleeds-it-leads and all those (usually incredibly stupid) bank robbers on Fox to remind us what a dangerous world it is are a sure way to get me to change the channel. What I'm really wondering is what the pot roast I just bought told these behavioral psychology profilers about me.  Seriously, they're taking the very little info on ou ...

Book Choices For Twilight Fans?Jan 14, 2011
I'm mid 30s and this may sound a bit juvenile, but I LOVED the Twilight series.  I could not stop reading them!  I read when I get on the treadmill, so it worked great that I would want to read chapter after chapter.  Someone recommended the True Blood series to me, but I couldn't really get into it.  Someone then recommended the Vampire Academy series and I have just started the first book, but it seems a bit TOO juvenile for me.  Please help, lol, my butt is ...

January 22, 2013 Obama Speech Leaves G.O.P. Stark Choices By JONATHAN WEISMAN   WASHINGTON — President Obama’s aggressive Inaugural Address on Monday presented Congressional Republicans with a stark choice over the next two years: accommodate the president’s agenda on immigration, guns, energy and social programs and hope to take the liberal edge off issues dictated by the White House, or dig in as the last bulwark against a re-elected Democr ...

"How Hillary Clinton's Choices Predict Her Future"Nov 26, 2012
From the Washington Post (yeah, still there :): "In recent weeks, Hillary Clinton has reiterated that she will not stay on for President Obama’s second term, unleashing fresh waves of speculation about her plans.  There is hypothesizing that she is merely entering a hibernation period before a 2016 presidential bid. There is talk that she will start her own women’s rights initiative. There is the prospect, too, that this might really be it for one of the most iconic figures in ...

Me thinks God is up there smoking dope! Apparently, Michele Bachmann is now confirming that she has received the long-awaited go-ahead from the Lord on her presidential run. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, when he announced he would not run, said that he just didn't feel called to do that. Have you had that ...

Holder's Not In The Clear Yet With F&FSep 22, 2012
"Even if we put the best possible face on the Inspector General’s report about the “Fast and Furious” gunwalking scandal — and assume that embattled Attorney General Eric Holder knew nothing, nothing about a cockamamie operation that funneled thousands of American guns to murderous Mexican drug cartels until very late in the game — we’re still left with one stunning conclusion: Why the hell not? Let's Clear Up The Minimum Wage NonsenseOct 27, 2014
By "clear up", I mean "to the extent possible".  I've spent two weeks "in the stacks", reviewing more than 2 dozen of the more recent economic analyses on the subject of the minimum wage, from sources that are considered reasonably objective.  For the most part, I focused on studies published by the NBER.  Of course, there's never any absolute assurance of objectivity, but peer review offers some reason to hope for it. They don't call economics "the dismal science" ...
