Obama job growth

Posted: Oct 6, 2014

"What’s now clear is that the Obama administration policies have outperformed the Reagan administration policies for job creation and unemployment reduction. Even though Reagan had the benefit of a growing Boomer class to ignite economic growth, while Obama has been forced to deal with a retiring workforce developing special needs. During the eight years preceding Obama there was a net reduction in jobs in America. We now are rapidly moving toward higher, sustainable jobs growth."

Opinion piece by comic novelist and film critic - makes no mention

of the obvious role played by the Boomers' entrance into and retirement from the workforce, the effects it had on the jobs market and the impact it has on analyzing effective management of the economy by the two presidents. No mention of the Bush legacy of net jobs reduction President Obama had to deal with. No mention of the the need to compensate for the "offshoring boom" which was an unintended consequence of REAGAN'S legacy of deregulation, how good it was for China and India, or of how it left Americans with stagnated wages and stalled upward mobility. No mention of the stellar performance of the stock market on Obama's watch or how his stock market gains surpassed Reagan's 8-year numbers a mere 4 years and 8 months into his presidency.

Then those of us who are desperately trying to maintain middle-class living standards are always left to ponder this one burning question: How's DID that trickle-down Reaganomics work out for ya???

Post ^ above ^ is DEFLECTION with a capital D. - Face the facts.

The Forbes piece cited from 09/11/2014 speaks for itself. You can downplay it and smear it all you want, but not facing the facts and the truth will hurt you in the long run. Good luck with that.
Ummm, it discusses contents - of both links

Specifically talks about the deficiencies of the piece you now try to declare as the only one that contains the truth. Instead of issuing edicts, an response that smacks of deflection and avoidance, try directly addressing the points raised about omissions on the part of the comic fiction writer and film critic in his 09/11 skit.

pertinence of Boomers presence and absence in the workforce, W's net jobs reduction, the offshore boom, deregulation, stagnated wages, stalled upward mobility, the stellar stock market and the trickle down failure escapes you, a discussion about Obama's records on jobs added to the private sector and contraction of federal government jobs might be more to your liking. Those are unrelated to your link's premise claiming that comparison of unemployment rates is somehow irrelevant. Go fo it.
You need to open a dictionary and read up on - what "deflection" is.

Observe and learn, fools.

Well, a few things - come to mind

Sequestration (thanks, Republicans) means many had their jobs downsized or cut.

Infrastructure bills not written or passed (thanks, Republicans) so all the good jobs that would be created for badly needed infrastructure repair are just not there.

Oh yeah, most especially: No requirement these very profitable companies like Walmart and McDonald's pay a living wage (thanks again, Republicans) so they get to be subsidized by us, the taxpayer.

Be careful who you call a freeloader though, many of your fellow MTs are forced to partake as well since the pro corporate policies of Republicans allow businesses to pay whatever they want, and guess what, they want to pay as little as possible and there's nothing to stop them.

Personally, my solution is if you pay an employee such low wages they are eligible for food stamps or welfare, you should have to pay their food stamps and welfare! Much easier to just pay them a bit more, no?

Personally, I am thoroughly sick of subsidizing these huge corporations (including my own employer) because they just do NOT want to pay a living wage.

But I thought Zippy was going to change all that (sm) - me

at least that's what he said when he was campaigning. Don't blame Republicans. They have passed bills in the House, and Dirty Harry has them stacked under his desk. He's at 21% popularity, you know. I wish he was up for reelection. People have figured out his games (most people)

Boehner's 40 bills he promotes under the "jobs" banner - are stalled
[ In Reply To ..]
because they barely have the faintest resemblance to actual jobs bills. What they do is expand drilling, fracking, pipelines, mining, and coal-ash projects, protect coal plants and coddle Big Oil polluters. They attack Obamacare without bothering to show exactly how taking health care coverage away from millions would create one single job. They promote Gone-With-the-Wind Ryan's budget, block states from instituting progressive welfare reform programs, gut SNAP funding, propose federal funding "transparency," and fashion cybersecurity framework--all in the name of jobs--but no indication of how many jobs would allegedly be created. Meanwhile, they massacred the real jobs bill, the American Jobs Act of 2011, a measure that would create upwards of 1 million jobs.

I guess they should watch that televised - bastion of intelligence, Fox News.

Yet he was able to beat his 2010 TPub opponent rather handily. - What does that tell ya?
[ In Reply To ..]
We've been through this hundreds of times. Reid won't waste time debating or send poison-pill riddled legislation to the president when he knows full well it won't be signed. Dems won the last two elections and set the agenda. Get over it. Let's not pretend Republicans have the slightest bit of interest in jobs or wage proposals. They showed their true colors when they tried and failed to cut $20 billion, then $40 billion from SNAP funding and ultimately slashed $9 billion. Another $11 billion is slated to disappear by 2016.

46 million to be exact, for 35 straight months. - You can't defend this. (sm)

Because thanks to the Pubs, the jobs don't - pay a living wage anymore.

That Job-growth Crushing ObamacareNov 12, 2015
We know, for example, that in 2014 – the first full year of ACA implementation – the job market in the United States had its best year since the late 1990s. Indeed, hiring in 2014 was so strong, it surpassed literally any single year in either Bush presidency, and even many of the years in the Clinton era. Postscript: I’d be remiss if I neglected to note that new jobs are being created in the health-care industry at an extraordinary pace. The industry added more ...
