Once again, and I know I sound like a broken record because I keep saying this, but I'm torn on this subject. I don't feel like we should punish children whose parents brought them here illegally....and yet to turn a blind eye just encourages more to come here illegally. I don't want to just give them amnesty because that does nothing but encourages more people to come here illegally. I also believe something needs to be done to employers who hire illegals. If they had to pay fines for hiring illegals, they wouldn't hire them. Not only would that encourage legal immigration, but it would also provide higher pay since employers won't be able to pay low wages under the table.
I would also consider looking at how we process citizenship applications, etc. I know with national security issues this makes it dififcult at times but I wonder if we could make the process a little easier that we could encourage more to come here legally as well. Not sure how that would work though. I guess I need to do some more research on that particular subject as well.
