Al Gore sues Al Jazeera over
Posted: Aug 16, 2014
The dispute centers on Al Jazeera’s refusal to turn over “tens of millions of dollars” remaining in an escrow account and still owed to the selling shareholders of Current TV, according to a statement from David Boies, the lawyer representing Mr. Gore and a Current TV co-owner, Joel Hyatt, who are suing on behalf of all the selling shareholders.
“Al Jazeera America wants to give itself a discount on the purchase price that was agreed to nearly two years ago,” Mr. Boies said. “We are asking the court to order Al Jazeera America to stop wrongfully withholding the escrow funds that belong to Current’s former shareholders.”
Mr. Gore and Mr. Hyatt filed the case in the Delaware Court of Chancery in Wilmington. Few other details are known, as the complaint has been sealed by the court, but Mr. Gore and the other selling shareholders have petitioned to make the case public...

A lawsuit over money? And this is political HOW? - Because it's Al Gore
[ In Reply To ..]
and you don't like him either?
Boo hoo.
It's current events and your bias is apparent. - After all, he did invent the internet.

xxx
Nobody said it wasn't current. It's just not really political at all. - Fact
[ In Reply To ..]
Just another reason to whine.
It IS political - - Fact
[ In Reply To ..]
Al Gores TV station, now Al Jezeera is a political TV station.
Dems love to whine. - SM

Need some cheese to go with that whine?
LOL - yeah, and he was the role model for "The Love Story" - ROFL

Claimed that the author based the character of Ryan O'Neal after his life. LOL
I never heard about *that* delusion before. - NPC

That is hilarious!! Where does he come up with this stuff?! LOL
Who knows the mind of the delusional. LOL - see message for history on this
[ In Reply To ..]
The author of Love Story, Erich Segal disputes Al Gore's delusions. The character of Oliver Barrett (played by Ryan O'Neal) was modeled after the actor Tommy Lee Jones (who happened to be Gore's roommate). The only part that was attributed to Gore was his controlling father and feeling that the family was pressuring him to follow in his father's footsteps.
That is according to the author:

In case you didn't know this.... - It IS political - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Al Gore was VP. He is also still active in politics. AND his lawsuit is political. It makes no different whether or not someone likes him, so keep your snotty "boo hoo" to yourself. You are showing your adoration.
Besides...any time anything comes up about Sarah Palins TV program, her home life, her hunting trips, her daughter's personal life people bring it up here. When we ask how it is political we are bombarded with the "Sarah Palin ran for VP (or Sarah Palin was Governor of Alaska) therefore anything she does in her personal life is free for grabs here on the political board".
Nobody forced Sarah Palin and her family - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
into the spotlight, except SARAH PALIN AND HER FAMILY!! They CRAVE the limelight like a junkie craves heroin, and they purposely and constantly put themselves OUT THERE so their cravings can be satisfied.
She's totally irrelevant to ANYTHING, and she wasn't the "Governor of Alaska;" she was the HALF-governor of Alaska. She didn't even have what it takes to finish out ONE TERM AS GOVERNOR.
She avidly seeks the limelight. A hundred bucks a year (or whatever the "fee" is) to see Sarah's special "TV WEB show"? I wouldn't pay a penny. I'm allergic to her very VOICE! She simply couldn't get another TV show, so she invented a show of her own! I find that hilarious!
Joe McGinniss bought a house right beside hers just - to spy on her family and write
[ In Reply To ..]
a book about her, in a negative way I might add. How despicable it that!
This post wasn't about a guy, unknown to me, - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
a "Joe McGinniss," who probably just wrote the truth! (Let's face it, her mere ACTIONS and WORDS have not painted her as a likeable or intelligent person.) I have purchased NO books about Sarah Palin or BY Sarah Palin and don't foresee ever doing that in the future.
My post was about Sarah Palin. If you want to talk about some guy named "Joe McGinnis," maybe you start a new post thread for that.
But you said nobody forced Sarah into the spotlight and - I'm pointing out that she
[ In Reply To ..]
was deliberately put in the spotlight simply to mock. I think she has held up quite well under all the pressure.
I thought you guys call that "free enterprise." - nm
[ In Reply To ..]
:-)
Well, if he was "stalking" poor Sarah, then WHY - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
didn't Sarah file a restraining order against the guy?
Probably because he died, and I bet Sarah - found the time to say a prayer.
[ In Reply To ..]
for him.
He also would sit outside and watch Piper Palin through her bedroom window.
There is no such title as "Half Governor". She was Governor - whether or not you like it
[ In Reply To ..]
Facts are facts. She was the Governor of Alaska from 2006 to 2009. She was governor for 3 years full time. Nobody cares if she left early. There are 3 others who also quit early. Doesn't mean they were never governors. And whether you want to believe it or not the people of Alaska liked her as their Governor.
As for her voice...While you may be allergic to her "VOICE" Then I and millions of others are allergic to Obama's voice.
Nobody cares whether or not she started, stopped, created or starred on an exisiting TV show. That is not what this is about. I don't really care how much people hate her. Don't care for her myself. Glad I don't have TV so I don't have to listen to any of them and even if I had TV I wouldn't watch her show. Not because of her, but because that stuff does not interest me.
However, we need to get back to the topic that was being discussed. It was not about how much anyone hates Sarah Palin, it was that someone is trying to claim that Algore's lawsuit is not political (when it is) and therefore should not be discussed here. My response was if it is okay to talk about Sarah Palin's personal life, her kids, her grandkids, her TV program, her hunting, etc because she is a political figure, then it's okay to talk about Al Gore's politically motivated law suit for the same reason....he is a political figure (unfortunately for the country).
Quoting you: "Nobody cares." - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Well, at least you got that part right.
"However, we need to get back to the topic that was being discussed. It was not about how much anyone hates Sarah Palin, it was that someone is trying to claim that Algore's lawsuit is not political (when it is) and therefore should not be discussed here. My response was if....
"Nobody cares."
The topic was the shareholders suit for breach of contract. Discuss the lawsuit for breach of contract to the multiple shareholders, please. Tell us all the political implications.
Go.
Once again - Let me repeat - since you are trying to dodge the subject
[ In Reply To ..]
Al Gore is in politics. This lawsuit is politically driven.
Even if it was not, since we discuss Palin's personal life here then even if this was personal we could discuss it here since Algore is involved in politics (and the fact that this is a political topic).
Once again: Let me explain. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Yammering away about how it is okay to discuss a topic does not actually constitute the discussing of it.
Feel free to stop dodging an actual political discussion in favor of discussing whether or not it's allowed.
Sarah Palin is not relevant in more ways than one.
Al Gore wants to recover money, pursuant to - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
a LEGAL agreement he AND Al Jazerra (sp?) entered into, and Al Jazerra has reneged upon.
It's not a political issue; it's a legal issue, and he has every right to sue for damages. It happens all the time when someone reneges on a LEGAL agreement.
There's really not much of a story here, and I am NOT the one who brought up Sarah Palin, who was too flaky to serve out her ELECTED term as governor.
She's nothing but a farce!
He needs a new jet. Yeah. You remind me - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
of that cell phone commercial where the household is run by a HAMSTER, and your response is like something "Gordone" would say.
Utterly ridiculous.
I agree, Gore is utterly ridiculous. - sm

But I do give him credit for inventing the Internet and being available for Love Story. LOL!!!!

That explains a LOT!
A bunch of shareholders, not just Al Gore, are suing a company to get their agreed upon money. - No one is discussing the actual politics.
[ In Reply To ..]
Probably because it's not really political at all and actually just yet another group of shareholders suing for breach of contract. They do happen to have one of the best lawyers in the country. Good for them.
Not really political, however.
But according to Obama he didn't - build that... nm
