Congresswoman Giffords -

Posted: Jan 13, 2011

My husband and I are in the middle of a really interesting conversation after seeing the latest progress that Congresswoman Giffords is making.  On one of the news reports a few days ago, we saw that they had removed quite a bit of her skull as a precaution for anticipated swelling.  Now what?  Is there a way they can put that part of her skull back or will she have to have a titanium plate?  Just curious

Yes - when the news was discussing it the other day they said the part of the skull that was removed is being preserved so that it can be put back in place when the swelling goes back down.

skin in the abdominal region. I knew of a little girl after a go cart crash one side of her skull was crushed and they removed part of the skull to relieve pressure. The skull bone was kept this way for several months until she was stable enough for surgery.

Yes they will reattach it when able, I would think - sm -

with screws of some sort, but who knows for sure? Someone who does neurosurgery out there? My mom had open-heart surgery and her heart swelling was so bad due to CHF they left her chest cracked open for about five days before closing her up (she was in an induced coma for all of that but could respond to our voices).

There are many, many messages instead from her constituents, many staunchly conservative, about how Obamacare has helped them and those they know and yes, please improve it if you will, but NOT to go back to the old way of being refused care and insurance companies being able to cut you off. Newtown Pol To Gabby Giffords:Jan 08, 2013
Gabby Giffords went to Newtown to visit with families of shooting victims, originally a low-key event that did not involve the press.  Despite advance reports of her visit, GOP CN State Representative Debra Lee Hovey went on a FB rant, decrying the "pure political motives" behind her CN trip and alleged lack of prior notice of the visit.  After the ensuing uproar over her cringe-worthy statements, Hovey then had the gall to claim in a hasty apology that HER motives had nothing to do wi ...

Chilling Quote From Giffords Herself About Palin's Crosshairs MapJan 09, 2011

It's important for all leaders ... to say, 'Look, we can't stand for this," Giffords told MSNBC last March, when a window in her Tucson office was smashed after Congress passed President Barack Obama's landmark healthcare overhaul. Giffords said she faced a deluge of threats for her support of the healthcare bill. "We've had hundreds and hundreds of protesters over the course of the last couple of months," Giffords told MSNBC. Republican Gun Raffle In Giffords' County Draws CriticismSep 05, 2011
First Posted: 9/1/11 06:14 PM ET Updated: 9/1/11 11:02 PM ET By Brad Poole TUCSON, Ariz (Reuters) - The Republican Party in Representative Gabrielle Giffords' home county is raising eyebrows by raffling off a Glock handgun -- the same brand handgun with which Giffords, a Democrat, was shot through the head in January. "When I first heard about this last week in an email, I said 'That's a joke, a sick joke. Nobody could be doing that,'" said Pima County Democratic Part ...
