Frustrated with UTI's!

HELP! I have had several UTI's in the last few years and now along with one I also have vaginitis. I am unsure as to why I continue to get UTI's. I am 45 years old and had the same partner for over 2 years now. I am on Metronidazole vaginal gel for 5 nights and an antibiotic for the UTI. How can I prevent future UTI's? Also, could the UTI have contributed to my vaginitis? Anyone else with similar issues? Thanks!

A couple old-time remedies that were shared with me were: 1. Cranberry juice or pills. 2. Mix some lemon juice in water and drink daily. It has helped me a lot. Hope it helps you as well.

Eventually had to go to a urologist for a scope of my bladder (I definitely don't recommend that if you don't have to - NOT fun!) Thank God everything was okay, but he really couldn't find a reason for the recurrent UTIs. He said it's hard to tell if the UTI caused the vaginitis or the other way around - bacteria move around pretty quickly. He recommended using unscented Summer's Eve wash (no cleansing cloths or spray), making sure to wipe front to back after using the bathroom (I kinda chuckled at that one, but he said I'd be surprised at how many women don't do that), taking a shower or quick bath after having sex, and taking cranberry pills - he suggested pills since you get all the good stuff from the cranberry and none of the added sugar from cranberry juice. I've been using the Summer's Eve and the cranberry pills ever since and haven't had any more problems. The shower after sex thing gets to be kind of a hassle, but totally worth it not having to deal with the alternative :)

The antibiotic might have contributed to your vaginitis.

ALWAYS urinate after sex. That can help a lot.

Talk to your doctor about prophylactic Bactrin DS. Take one after sex.

I talked to my PM today about never having any work, she said she would reset my profile because I only have about half of her accounts and I'm running out of work halfway through my shift for months now and she said she would reset but I'm OOW again and I reminded her to fix it and she still hasn't done it.
