A solution!

Posted: Mar 15, 2011

I posted some time ago about having a problem with covering gray/white roots after having my hair colored at the salon.  It gets expensive when your hair grows very fast like mine.  I try to stretch out the time, going every 5 weeks.  In the meantime I have been using the color stick at the roots, which is less than perfect.  It didn't match, felt greasy, etc.  I was giving up hope of finding something that would completely cover and would not turn my hair that pink/violet color.

Yesterday I went to Sally's.  I got the greatest young gal who walked around the shop helping me pick something that would cover.  Today I colored the regrowth around my face and ears, the crown of my head and the top of my head in different sections.  The color is BEAUTIFUL!!

The hair color product I got is called Age Beautiful.  You mix one tube with 2 ozs. of the #20 developer, and here's the great part . . .

She advised I buy a product called Gray Magic.  It comes in a tiny bottle.  You put two drops in your mixing bottle with the color product and the developer.  Shake it up, apply it and MAGIC.   It covered COMPLETELY.  Let me tell you, there is NO brown left in my natural color at all.  I get it professionally colored a pretty medium brown, not a dark brown.  The color of AGE BEAUTIFUL I chose was Dark Blonde.  The hair sample below the color in the store looked like that would be best.  I hit a home run on this one!  The girl also picked out a very good conditioner to use afterwards.   This has been a problem for me for a long time, and I wanted to share my experience with all of you facing the same problem.  I can't believe the coverage and the PERFECT match!!   Laughing

Hope this helps you!!!

something that works well for me too and it's easy and inexpensive. I never cared for the stark look the permanent colors looked like on gray/white hair. I used a color mousse for a while but couldn't manage my hair the way I wanted to. Then I started using a temporary hair color (Loving Care) and I leave it on about five minutes and it looks nice and natural and I like the way my hair acts with it. I couldn't find my color with Loving Color (Plush Brown) lately so I'm using Roux's temporary hair color in that shade for now which has a nice natural looking color, although it leaves a little film on my hair because you don't rinse it out. My thing is I don't want every single hair looking the same shade but rather different tones and the temporary color does that. I only use about a handful or two of color...you don't have to use the whole bottle. I will look into the product you found. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the tip! My hair is naturally multicolored, - from dark-brown to blonde, so - sm

as the grays start to multiply, eventually I'll have to switch from more-frequent highlighting, to overall color. But I didn't want that stark, one-color look, either! Loving Care sounds like an affordable, non-100%-commitment answer!

A Possible Unemployment Solution?Nov 04, 2010
A financial pundit, James Galbraith, suggested:  We have a large cohort of people who have been displaced by a major economic crisis,” he says. “It's utterly ridiculous to make them subsist on unemployment insurance, when in fact, there aren’t going to be jobs.  This is not a temporary condition for a great many people.” Galbraith claims lowering the retirement age would solve that problem. It's a win-win, he says, allowing those nearing retirement a ...

The Slaughter SolutionMar 15, 2010
The House Health-Care Vote and the Constitution No bill can become law unless the exact same text is approved by a majority of both houses of CongressBy MICHAEL W. MCCONNELL Democratic congressional leaders have floated a plan to enact health-care reform by a procedure dubbed "the Slaughter solution." It is named not for the political carnage that it might inflict on their members, but for Rep. Louise Slaughter (D., N.Y.), chair of the powerful House Rules Committee, who proposed it. Simple Solution For Conservatives.Oct 14, 2009
If you are unhappy with the current administration, start volunteering your time, put your money where your mouth is, and get more conservatives out to vote in future elections.  If your candidates have the majority of votes, you will get the change you seek.  If your candidates do not have the majority of votes, then you are obliged to abide by the laws set forth by those elected to office by the majority.  That is how democracy works. Having tea parties, holding up offensive si ...

No Use Depending On Hildabeast For Outsourcing SolutionAug 01, 2016
Well just heard an ad for Hillary and in it she says that outsourcing is not something you can legislate. Why the heck not. Make it illegal. I don't know why anyone wants to believe her at all. She would do as much if not more damage as Obama has done to our country. ...

To Uninformed Flamer Poster With The Big Screen TV Solution To BCMar 02, 2012
Speaking of uninformed, there are 820 PP clinics and around 68 million women of child-bearing age in the US.  That works out to around 82,927 women per clinic.  Yeah, that'll work.  Access for those who live hundreds of miles from the nearest facility could prove problematic, dontcha think?  Of those, only a small percentage qualify for tiered cost programs.  Your assumption that PP can handle this all by its lonesome is ridiulous, particularly in view of the relent ...

What Is The Libertarian Solution To The West Virginia Crisis?Jan 11, 2014
From what I understand, Libertarians do not believe in government regulation or assistance.   The West Virgina area recently had a chemical spill making all the available water totally unuseable except for flushing toilets.  Hospitals, nursing homes, restaurants are all  unable to do their jobs.  An etimated population of almost half a million people are affected, as well as the animals.  I wonder who all drank the water before this chemical spill was identifie ...

Two-state Solution Has Been Offered By Israel Several TimesJan 01, 2017
Jordan and Israel were carved out of Transjordan in 1948. Palestine never existed as a state nor was it a part of the Middle East script. At one time during Bill Clinton's presidency, Arafat walked out when Israel offered a solution. They don't want to live in peace. They want to eradicate Jews. This does not include all Arabs living in peace with the Jews in Israel. The press never differentiates this. The underlying problem is that a two-state solution creating a national ...

A Better Solution To America’s Immigration Problem: End Birthright Citizenship.Nov 21, 2014
Sounds like a great start!  Or quite possibly we could enforce our current immigration laws and become more strict, like other countries do, regarding illegal aliens who enter the country without the proper documents?  Is that such a difficult task?  I think not.     Link: http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/politics/2014/11/obama_immigration_plan_why_it_s_time_to_end_birthright_citizenship.html ...

Direct Primary Care Offers A Market Solution To Doctor Shortages.Oct 12, 2016

Government Is Not The Solution To Income Inequality. Government Is TheJan 10, 2016
How I wish that people knew more about the history of this nation, and about the expansion of government with more agencies, more laws, more regulations, more inspections, and other impediments to personal success that has occurred especially since the 1930s, and in which NONE of the parties in power have been blameless. Folks, we now have officials shutting down lemonade stands and fining people for collecting rainwater from their own roofs.  If you have a koi pond in your back yard, the ...
