I know, it seems that I am ignoring your advice because I have already gone ahead with plans to give away these things. Also, I will donate Sammy's food dish and water bowl to an animal shelter. This apartment is just too small to keep extra "stuff" we are not using and we do not plan to have another pet for quite a while until we are ready to embrace another one. I am thinking that the act of giving Sammy's things to another animal who needs help will comfort me.
