The toxicology is back. Floyd had fentanyl in his system and showed recent meth use. Fentanyl kills you by shutting down your brain's ability to detect low oxygen and high carbon dioxide in your system. This is likely why Floyd complained of not being able to breathe while standing up, minutes before he was pinned to the ground. It also explains how he was able to talk normally while pinned. If his airway was constricted he wouldn't be able to speak normally.
The complaint says the cops asked Floyd if he was on anything, it doesn't say if he responded. Maybe if he had told them he had taken fentanyl they could have given him Naloxone or called the ambulance sooner.
That's enough reasonable doubt for Chauvin to walk. That doesn't mean a jury won't still find him guilty. But it's also very possible he had nothing to do with Floyd's death. It could have all been due to the fentanyl.
