someone can be heard stating what sounded like, "that's why you shouldn't take drugs" or "that's what happens when you take drugs." It appears it was Chauvin speaking to one of the bystanders who was frantically yelling out "he can't breathe, check his pulse, etc."
It's very possible these officers recognized Floyd was under the influence of something by the way he was behaving. BUT, the man was also complaining of not being able to breathe. They handcuffed him (which is standard police procedure) and attempted to put him in the police car. Somehow he ended up restrained face down on the ground while still handcuffed and stating he couldn't breathe. He was no longer a threat to the officers in this position on the ground.
At this point, why did Chauvin decide to continue doubling down on the force of restraint rather than calling for paramedic assistance to render aid for this man's breathing difficulty? There were already 2 officers holding Floyd down and he was no longer resisting them, but still stating he couldn't breathe. Why did Chauvin decide that his full body weight upon Floyd's neck for over 8 minutes (after 5 minutes which rendered him unconscious and continuing for 3 minutes more which led to his death) was the necessary thing to do, especially when this action will easily cut off someone's oxygen supply and blood circulation leading to death?
I hope the Floyd family finds the right attorney who will be able to cut through all the garbage the defense side will try to throw into this case. Chauvin had an agenda of exactly how he wanted to handle Mr. Floyd.
