who asks this question. My brother took care of our mother in her house towards the end of her life. After she had passed, he tried to say some comforting words to me, as I lived at a distance and could not be there for her. He had overheard her praying out loud saying these words," I'm ready. Why am I still here?" I think it may be a common thing for the elderly---they are tired of living with their mortal body getting increasingly weaker and with their faith in God and the blessed hope they are just impatient for it all to take place.
