Answer - Microwave devotee

The question really was not answered because as usual people got off on a tangent about microwave safety. Microwaves are pretty standard these days so look for a size that fits your kitchen space and I wouldn't go with anything less than 1100 watts, then look for the features you want (defrost, reheating, frozen entrees) and go with that. Choose a well-known brand and you'll be fine. As someone said, they don't last forever because seals wear out and the inside lining deteriorates over time, the lifespan would depend on how often you use it. This is the first time I have heard anything about the molecular component of food being altered and I think microwaves are considered to be safe. There is one person in this forum who won't use an Amazon Echo because they think the neighbors can listen through the walls in her house; just use common sense and you'll be fine, have fun shopping.
