I'm not baiting anyone. I'm proposing an idea for further discussion. - sm

It's a very simple proposal. People who want single-payer should be able to pool their money and share expenses. In the process they can learn how the program works and see what they need to do to keep it running.

Any downsides or upsides they encounter are things we'd expect to see in any large scale implementation. This is why I proposed having the government manage the funds and people paying in advance with increased taxation.

Personally, I think they'd experience runaway costs and funding shortfalls. But if they're willing to pay their share in advance who would they be hurting?

Any good business owner knows that you try a new product or service in a limited test market before you spend the money and commit to rolling it out to all your stores/restaurants. It's like McDonald's current experiment with kiosks for ordering food in 1000 locations.

Why not give it shot and see what happens? If people think it's a crazy idea and no one wants to sign on, well, there you go. Maybe it IS a crazy idea and we shouldn't subject the rest of the country to it. Or maybe it will work...

I'd love to hear more of your ideas on this topic.
