Good news for America! Economy on the upswing. 4.1 GDP 3rd quarter

Posted: Dec 20, 2013

"Economists at Jefferies & Co. expect the economy to grow 3.3% next year. That would be the biggest level of annual growth in ten years. They also expect the job market to finally replace all the private sector jobs lost in the recession."

Even though this spike isn't expected to be a constant, things continue to trend in the right direction.  Good news for all Americans.  :D

Why would anyone dislike such good news? Crazy! nm - VTMT

Where the information is coming from cannot be trusted. Reading this article would be like Michelle Obama reporting that her husband has positive ratings. This is information put out by CNN, which we all know is a tool for the democrats. On top of that the article states "according to revised data released by the government". Well OF COURSE the government is going to say the economy is doing well. Just because they boast about how great they are does not make it true. They have not been truthful with us up until this time, so I have no reason to believe this. I myself know how to create PowerPoint presentations, so I could do up my own fancy smancy little graft and show this or that, but that does not mean it would be factual. When jobs are being lost, more and more people losing insurance, and all the other disasters going on that is where the truth lies. Not what the government wants you to believe. This article (IMO) is about as believable as the guy who is trying to pass something to arrest people for crimes they may commit in the future.

Data - Skeptical

If private sector jobs are being replaced, it is with temp workers or part-time employees. Also, a lot of new jobs are service workers and low paying. Retail jobs come into play this time of year. It is true, the government has the ability do manipulate those statistics, I thought that was quite well known. Depending on the source, the information is not always reliable.
Might it be more reliable if the numbers were bad? - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm linking to the BLS statistics, but if it is your opinion these numbers can be manipulated it's moot, I suppose. Although, I guess they would have to be manipulated throughout the year(s) as well.

Anyhow, I'm not a numbers interpretation guru, but it looks to me that numbers are good throughout the spectrum of occupations except Fed Gov jobs.

I believe what you posted has been true for the gradual trend downward in unemployment in the past, but it looks to me by these numbers that it might not be the case for November and I'm hoping for all Americans that the trend will continue that more "real" jobs are being created and filled.

I guess we can revisit or better decipher whether or not that happens in a couple months or so.

Here's another article. BTW, GDP numbers do not originate in - the media sm

"The Commerce Department said the U.S. economy grew at an annual pace of 4.1% in the third quarter, the biggest rise since the fourth quarter of 2011, revised sharply higher than a previous estimate of 3.6%. Economists expected no change to the GDP reading."

The DOW dropped 25% under Bush - History Facts

[ In Reply To ..]
I do not like Wall Street ethics, but there is no denying that the Dow Jones Index is the standard for measuring the economy. When GW Bush took office, the DOW was at 10,587. When GW left office is was at 7949, a loss of 25%. Under Obama, the Dow is now over 16000, a historical high. Now, that makes a huge difference in my 401K and my future retirement income. Thank goodness for Obama.

I seem to remember an anti-Obama report by CNN a month or so ago, and for that short period of time, CNN was "THE PLACE" to go for honest news about Obama.

MSNBC has been trashed to the high heavens on this site, and now CNN is being trashed.

The only station left then is Fox News, which tells me all I need to know!
No that is not the only place left to go - Person you replied to

I don't get any of my news from the mainstream media. There are other media sources. I won't write who they are here because they will be trashed, but there are sites that do tell the truth about what is going on. I think many Americans have been conditioned that you have to get your news from one of those three sites. That really is not the case. If CNN had an "anti-Obama" report (which I don't know if they did or not cos I stopped watching that station for obvious reasons), but if they did it was probably the first one in history. MSNBC is trashed for good reason, as is Fox. I prefer an independent viewpoint. I read many different sites. They are out there and it's the only way to get any real news.
I respect not wanting to state your media sources, but do they report any statistics or - indicators regarding
[ In Reply To ..]
the economic growth? Like the stock market, GDP, unemployment rate, housing market rise/fall, etc.? These are stats that should IMO be reported and the reader can glean their own conclusion about what the numbers mean. CNN, Fox, NBC, MSNBC, CBC, ABC all report these as do newspapers. There is nothing untrustworthy about it. If the commentary that accompanies the article is a bone of contention, fine, but that doesn't change the numbers. IMO, that is where the discussion should be, not the media sources that report the facts.

And while we are all free to get our information from wherever we wish, I do think it is unfair that posters who name their media sources are subject to having those sources criticized and deemed untrustworthy by other posters who refuse to name theirs.
Not if they're good numbers. C'mon you know that. - nm.

[ In Reply To ..]
Because you don't know. Why do people insist on posting when they don't know what they are talking about. "C'mon you know that". Know what? Please do enlighten us with all your wisdom since you seen to know this. Please do share with everyone what sources you know obviously know where I get my news from.

My sources report news that is good or bad. You see, when you have an independent source that isn't paid for by goons, whose purpose it is is to report the truth, good/bad doesn't matter. News is news whether its good or bad.

So, please enlighten us all with your exceptional wisdom and tell us all where I personally get my news from.
I'm not interested in what your sources are - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
You were the one who trashed my sources.

It shouldn't be about the sources anyhow.

The numbers themselves don't lie or have an opinion.

The country is going in the right direction. Too bad that's bad news in some people's opinion.
Yes they do - good or bad - sm

You can get your information from anywhere you like. My MIL prefers MSNBC because they tell her what she wants to hear. She has a log of anger and hate built up and she feeds on it so she like them. Same with CNN.

I myself just prefer getting my news from sites are are not paid and controlled/manipulated by the wall street and big money that try and skew people opinions by not telling them the truth like CNN, MSNBC, Fox and the rest of the main stream media.

I want the news, the whole news and nothing but the news without peoples hateful opinions mixed in with false information. That's why I personally don't like those sites I mentioned. Everyone is free to choose which stations they like. Those are just my personal opinions.

BTW, my "weird sites" or "whacky" sites, report the news. Then about a week later I hear the same story in the main stream. Told my MIL I find it actually kind of funny, she criticizes where we get our news, but then within the week she sends us the same news story, now okay because it came from her favorite place.

To each their own, I just prefer independent sources, not tied to the people who are the cause of the problem or who are reporting false information. But that's just me.
I didn't call them anything. I just wondered if they - reported empiric info

Again, I just posted an article that reported numbers. Numbers that we all should be somewhat satisfied with. They have been trending in a good direction despite the obstructionist republican party.

Fox News Claims Solar Won't Work In America Feb 09, 2013
"Thanks to Fox News and its expert commentators, millions of Americans now understand the real, hidden reason why Germany's solar-energy industry is so much further along than ours. Turns out it has nothing to do with the fact that Germany's government has long supported the industry far more generously, with policies like feed-in tariffs that stimulate investment in green technologies.
