State Dept. Releases Hillary's "private" emails

Posted: May 22, 2015

CLINTON GOT NOW-CLASSIFIED BENGHAZI INFO ON PRIVATE EMAIL

BY LISA LERER AND MATTHEW LEE ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton received information on her private email server that has now been classified about the deadly attack on U.S. diplomatic facilities in Benghazi.

The email in question, forwarded to Clinton by her deputy chief of staff Jake Sullivan, relates to reports of arrests in Libya of possible suspects in the attack.

The information was not classified at the time the email was sent but was upgraded from "unclassified" to "secret" on Friday at the request of the FBI, according to State Department officials. They said 23 words of the Nov. 18, 2012, message were redacted from the day's release of 296 emails totaling 896 pages to protect information that could damage foreign relations.

So, compromising national security is okay as long as it's to witch-hunt Hillary - Julia Sugarbaker

[ In Reply To ..]
If the email was originally marked "unclassified", it's probably because she didn't expect there'd be an open-records request on private emails actually naming suspects publicly, who have not been captured yet.

Since that is now the risk, that WOULD compromise national security as well as future operations, and thus marked classified.

It is amazing to me that anyone would be willing to compromise our own national security just to nail Hillary to the wall for not revealing all classified information or not securing private emails enough - just to put their own candidate it office.

Even more amazing those same people are the ones complaining loudest about wanting to launching headlong into battle with ISIS without having enough intel to fully know our enemy yet - again.

And that's evidence they don't really care about our safety OR small government - they want government control and money in their own pockets - period.

Good for you, Hillary, give them all the records they want, but stick to your guns on not giving the public what would compromise our safety or future operations - let them gossip.

I've not been a Hillary fan, in recent years, but I'm becoming more and more of one every day, as a result of the absurdity of these witch hunts and inability to find even ONE viable Republican candidate that has made a lick of sense since Ron Paul (to include his actually 'big government' loving, hypocritical son :)

PS - The Bushes, Colin Powell and several Romanian government officials were hacked as well. Guess their human error rules them out for president/government leaders too. Whups, too late.

Do a google search for Guccifer, her emails were in Cloud, - she did it herself. nm

Hillary is the Romanian hacker, Marcel Lazăr Lehel AKA Guccifer, convicted/imprisoned in 2013? - Julia Sugarbaker

[ In Reply To ..]
Wow that's amazing, she hacked herself, her husband, several journalists, Colin Powell and George W. Bush and top Romanian government officials.

Interestingly, Guccifer was arrested, convicted and imprisoned after he impersonated Dorothy Bush Koch and posted supposed "self-portraits" of George Bush on websites such as "Smoking Gun" because he "thought it was funny" and loved to manipulate people using fear and confusion, it made him feel superior. Well, all that's over now, he's exactly where he should be.

Hm, that sort of behavior sounds awfully familiar to me, where have I seen that sort of thing before...

The comment I replied to says "she did it herself" in the author field. If TO herself - was meant, Guccifer hacked Bush too JS
[ In Reply To ..]
Plus Colin Powell, journalists and government officials in his own country of Romania.

But let's blame the victim of crime for leaving herself vulnerable because she's a Democrat, but not the Republicans, as usual, they are only crime victims ;)

She compromised national security by using an UNSECURED server - Truthhurts

[ In Reply To ..]
BTW, the word "private" emails is what Hillary, herself, called them, yet they were emails dealing with Benghazi...no one is compromising security by releasing them to the public since all are redacted where need be BY THE STATE DEPT. If classified info does get out that's not redacted, then it's Hillary and/or the State Dept.'s fault.

She should have followed the law and used government email....of course, that's not to say that the government emails never get hacked. They probably do but we don't know about it.

It's an absurdity to think that Hillary is an angel and she does nothing wrong. The Foundation is just one of the other problems she faces and as time goes by, more and more is coming out. A lot of Dems are finding it difficult to support her and are starting to question just what they were doing.

BTW, if you feel you need to vote for Hillary because you feel she's being unfairly persecuted, that's no reason to vote for someone. Research is the only way to vote for a candidate, not because you feel sorry for someone.

Agreed, and that's what made her emails so easy for Guccifer, - guess she's never heard of CLOUD, nm

Ferris Bueller & Human Error: If human error is a reason not to vote for someone, rules out - Repubs Guccifer-hacked too - Julia Sugarbaker

[ In Reply To ..]
Weren't we just discussing Bush's "mistakes" that cost thousands of lives? And weren't the Bushes hacked by Guccifer too? But let's nail Hillary to the wall over not classifying an email, heck yeah.

I don't think she's an angel. I just think she's like Ferris Bueller and the far right is like his sister and the principal, imagining they're perfect and spending all their time trying to nail her to the wall over nonsense, rather than worry more about their own jobs, email hacks and candidates

I wouldn't be voting for her because of the absurd witch hunts, I would be voting for her because she stuck to her guns by not releasing things that might compromise national security any further, despite being vilified for it, it's noble.

Otherwise, if the right finds something on her that is conclusively beyond and worse than human error, I'll listen. Until they do, they succeed at nothing but turning me off towards themselves.

Several straw man arguments - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
This poster said: "It's an absurdity to think that Hillary is an angel and she does nothing wrong."

It's more absurd to keep projecting the conservative trait of conflating politics with religious terms. There is no liberal that would ever equate ANY politician with being an "angel." That entire straw man argument is nothing more than mere projection that no liberal is actually ever doing.

This poster also said: "BTW, if you feel you need to vote for Hillary because you feel she's being unfairly persecuted, that's no reason to vote for someone. Research is the only way to vote for a candidate, not because you feel sorry for someone."

Totally and utterly FALSE. Again with the conflating politics with being "persecuted." We know conservatives live for their "we are fraidy victims" routine, but it is a mistake to project that whole religious persecution and victimhood line of utter absurdity onto liberals. BTW, research is NOT the only way to vote for a candidate. People can vote for a candidate for whatever reason they want. No one has to do one scintilla of research.... not one iota of research is required. LOL.
However, it is very possible to vote for Clinton - as the lesser of the evils
[ In Reply To ..]
Darn, there's that religious thing, and I'm not even religious.

But you get what I mean. I wouldn't vote for one of those Republicans if they were the last candidates on earth. I don't know that Clinton is the best there is, but she may be the only Democrat willing or available this time around, and I will take her willingly over anybody they have to offer.
And I will vote against her as she is the more evil of two - Not religious, but I am spiritual
[ In Reply To ..]
The Good Lord guides me in the right direction. It is to save the country against her.

Not voting republican or democrat. I am voting for whoever will be the better candidate. It will never be Hillary no matter who runs against her.
The Conservative Christians prayed to save the country against Obama too. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
If only they had prayed harder maybe God wouldn't have answered them with two Obama wins and two electoral landslide victories for Obama.

I know a lot of Christian Democrats who prayed for Obama wins, and we actually think God knows exactly what he's doing. Jesus went about the world healing the sick free of cost and feeding the poor and hungry masses, while conservatives are working hard to repeal health care for Americans and do away with the social safety net.

Even a cursory reading of the words of the Lord and a study of the way He conducted His life shows that the conservative agenda and His agenda are diametrically opposed.
Perhaps that's the problem. Nowhere in the bible does it say to pray against anyone - Julia Sugarbaker
[ In Reply To ..]
Prayer is supposed to be FOR other people and the self, not AGAINST people.

As far as rescue and protection, it took me a long time to figure this out, but it took a Jewish rabbi to set me straight on it, in my late 20s when I'd "gone athiest" for a while. I asked him how he could believe in a god who didn't spare 6 million of his own people from torture and death.

He said "Because we believe God rarely rescues anyone. We pray for wisdom, strength and that his presence can be felt. To pray otherwise is setup for disappointment. God doesn't need to change, we need to change our view of God."

Hit me like a ton of bricks - though we are his children, God rarely rescues us unless there's something important we need to do, especially not from the consequences of our own choices. He did not save Paul, he did not save many saints, but we learned from their suffering.

So if this is how conservative Christians are praying, expect to be disappointed. There is something to be said for invocation of the name of Christ against evil energy, but when it's our time to go or suffer so that others will learn, it's just gonna happen.

And Obama is not the antichrist, by the way, if that is what is meant. If he were, we'd know by now, but he's on his way out, so?

The whole reason we call the "antichrist" that is because he will deceive the world into being like Christ at first, using the church as deceptive cover, but he's actually trying to destroy it once he attains power.

Consider THAT thought for a moment.
And what does this say about the country today and - the quality of candidates.nm

I never brought religion into it. You did that. - Truthhurts
[ In Reply To ..]
Persecution is a word with a definition far from the religious aspect. Hillary is not being persecuted for her religious beliefs so let's stop with that idea right there. Hillary is being persecuted because the left THINKS she's
being treated cruelly or unfairly (which she is not).

I feel the record of her past and her stint as SOS says a lot about her, and it's not good.

The left has a one-sided standard that it's a "no holds barred" for anyone not a Democrat and it's fine to bring up everything from their past, but don't touch the Demoncrat because that's not playing fair. Bull.
Liberals have this ability to think beyond one post. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
It's not exactly your first post. In the past, you have described Mother Jones as a "liberals bible," and you routinely conflate religion with politics in your posts, and that's perfectly fine and not in the least bit a criticism at all. The point I keep trying to make is that liberals don't think in those terms like conservatives do. The majority of far-right conservatives share this trait at least to some degree of conflating religion with politics. Please understand that the majority of liberals do NOT think the way conservatives do.

In your prior post, you state that: "It's an absurdity to think that Hillary is an angel and she does nothing wrong."

So you're projecting what you think we think, which couldn't be further from the truth. The point I'm trying to get across to conservatives is quite simply that liberals DO NOT think ANY politician is an angel, and this would include ANY and EVERY politician, ALL OF THEM. This repeated argument of "angel versus demon" is like beating a dead horse after it's been beaten to death several times over. How many times does it have to be said that no one thinks anything of the sort? Please stop projecting the conservative mindset onto liberals who think nothing like you do. Liberals do not think in terms of "good versus evil."

You said: "Hillary is not being persecuted for her religious beliefs so let's stop with that idea right there."

That is your idea, not mine! Another straw man argument. Do you actually think a liberal thinks Hillary is being "persecuted" for her religious beliefs? We don't! Poor horse that has been beat to death. Liberals don't conflate religion with politics! That is a conservative way of thinking. You're projecting it onto liberals. We don't think Hillary is being persecuted for her religious beliefs or for ANY reason. Projection of the conservative mindset onto liberals........ over and over and over.

You said: "Hillary is being persecuted because the left THINKS she's being treated cruelly or unfairly (which she is not)."

Majority of liberals do not think Hillary is being persecuted at all, particularly since use of the word persecuted does hold a religious connotation. I know you think "persecution is a word with a definition far from the religious aspect," but it's really not a word with a definition far from the religious aspect at all. Please look up the word "persecution" and find a definition where the term religion is not included in the definition. Good luck; I didn't find any. Regardless, liberals think this is actually an exercise of "throw so much right-wing manufactured crap against the fan and see what sticks." It's right-wing propaganda. It's politics and not remotely about religion. Been manufacturing propaganda and utter right-wing conspiracy garbage against both Obama for a while now and against Hillary for decades now and is absolutely nothing new whatsoever. Same crap, different decade. LOL.

You said: "The left has a one-sided standard that it's a 'no holds barred' for anyone not a Democrat and it's fine to bring up everything from their past, but don't touch the Demoncrat because that's not playing fair."

I see the pattern here is that you seem to think you know what the left is actually thinking. Please realize that you have no idea what "the left" is thinking because, the fact is, you really do have no idea. You're projecting your own ideas onto liberals that do not remotely think in the same terms that conservatives do.

BTW, insisting vehemently that you don't "bring religion into it" is a hard sell to liberals and a flat out weak argument and failed debate point when you insist on using the term "Demoncrat" and is demonstrably (to borrow your word) a load of "bull." :)

There is no "witch hunt" Hillary - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Hillary is not giving everything she is supposed to be. She is hiding and deleting whatever she can. This is not a witch hunt. If so, then there is a witch hunt against every republican.

People need to learn the difference between a witch hunt and trying to get to the truth and have people follow the laws.

Saying there is a witch hunt against her did give me a good belly laugh though, so thanks for the comedy tonight.

Perhaps the usage of the terms "witch hunt " is misunderstood. - Julia Sugarbaker

[ In Reply To ..]
The State Department agreed that Hillary has the legal right to retain certain emails in the interest of national security.

The fact that she put them on a private server and we have not seen them doesn't automatically mean wrongdoing, there could be reasons for that (she thought a privately-run host would be safer?) - and that is where the witch hunt comes in.

Witch hunts are accusations that build into hysteria based on no evidence whatsoever, other than behavior that may have another explanation, then actually attempting to use lack of evidence itself as proof of guilt, in hopes of a trial.

What is attempting to be done here is use emails we haven't even seen and were protected as proof of guilt to build an hysterical case against her.

In what way does that DIFFER from the witch hunts of 1692?

News flash: It is not 1692, people are innocent until proven guilty, but first the burden of proof is on the accusers.

When it comes to witch hunts, our country's - right-wing faction wrote the book.

Conservatives have been spinning the truth into conspiracy theories and witch hunts against the Clintons for decades now.

You'd think after all this time and millions of dollars they've spent to that end that conservatives would recognize a witch hunt by now. LOL.

Believe me when I tell you that the politicians know exactly what they're doing to Hillary with the witch hunt and dragging out the whole Benghazi tragedy and politicizing the deaths of Americans in order to fund raise. It's sickening. I get all the emails raising funds off Benghazi. They need to keep that gravy train going and that money flowing in and trying to make something out of nothing.

There is no smoking gun, people. Just a bunch of Fox News made up nonsense about Benghazi that's already been investigated to death and proven to be fabricated propaganda.

Conservatives believe all the lying rhetoric they hear from the right-wing propaganda machine without question. It's what they want to believe so they don't question it.

Hillary never said that Chelsea was in the World Trade Center on 9/11. That was a lie that Dick Morris and his wife wrote about.

What Hillary said was: "She'd gone what she thought would be just a great jog. She was going to go down to Battery Park, she was going to go around the towers. She went to get a cup of coffee and -- and that's when the plane hit."

Dick Morris took that quote and made up all the other false rhetoric, and the gullible masses ate it up.

I don't know where you're getting the "helicopter was shot down in Iraq" load of rubbish. Hillary has never said her helicopter was shot down in Iraq.

This poster said: "Besides drooling liberals, who actually believes her?"

Besides drooling conservatives, who actually believes the partisan idiots and right-wing propaganda on Fox News? They say they hate liars, but they love liars and repeat the liars and therefore become people who perpetuate lies, which is the definition of "liars."

It's hard to believe someone repeating lies has a problem with lies.
They're mistaking us for the easily-manipulated idiots who buy their proofless media garbage - Julia Sugarbaker
[ In Reply To ..]
I don't know when the loudest conservatives in this room are going to get it.

You are not dealing with easily-manipulated idiots, here. You are dealing with several highly intelligent, educated, and well-read left-leaners and libs, who always ask for sources and proof, especially when you assert things as fact that are actually opinion.

When conservatives start posting ENTIRE contexts of events, backing up accusations with proof as we typically do when we state something as fact (sometimes even as opinion to explain our opinion), then we'll listen.

And here's a question: Why IS it typically the right that regurgitates accusatory opinion every single day, stating them as fact, with 95% of not even providing a reputable link or proof as we do when we state something as fact, just demanding we "google"?

And when they do, they truncate and omit important parts of initial sources of the story.

I have friends in real life in the centre-right who would NEVER do that an embarrass themselves OR their party by doing so and they're embarrassed of Fox at LEAST 50% of the time.

When the right quits treating us like idiots, we'll better listen.

Until then, we will consider it all propaganda and nothing more and yes, it most likely will be mocked rather than debated because there's no fact to debate, I'm sorry.
