interesting article on how the wealthy avoid paying taxes.

Whoa! No wonder they need tax consultants. - This made my head spin!

I didn't know that the tax rate is less for dividends. I have to admit that I like that one. That's the one that caused Warren Buffet to say that because of the way it works, that's why his secretary pays higher taxes than he does. I want some of that!

Push for the Ways and Means Committee to make changes in the tax code.

It reminds me of the obscene pay some athletes get for playing baseball or basketball or whatever. You hear people complaining about how awful it is, but the athlete did nothing wrong (and has a good agent). If the owner is willing to pay the high price, that's his/her problem, and the people shouldn't be angry at the athlete.

If you had the option of paying $50,000 in taxes or $10,000 in taxes, which would you choose?  If these people are breaking the law, then they need to be prosecuted.  If they are following the law, then I don't understand why people are angry with them.  I understand that they want the government to take a large portion of their money, but why would people be angry at the rich and not at the lawmakers?

I guess my point is that these tax loop holes are not the fault of the wealthy people -- They are the fault of the lawmakers and the tax code/laws.

I want the loop holes closed. Not really mad at anyone. - Just want fairness

There are some ridiculous tax situations out there that need to be fixed, people making multi-millions and paying less than I do. Change what needs to be changed. That's what I want.

I know ONE wealthy person... and he pays outrageous - proportion of income in taxes.

For the most part, this does involve small businesses too. Sure, there may be loopholes, lawbreakers, etc, but hey AMERICA, we dont solve our problems by stealing others money. Its shameful that people actually THINK this way. The Govt taking citizens money to solve the debt crisis, and those not rich are fine with stealing from the rich. Its sickening, really.

Once Again, Your President Breaks The Law. (sm)Feb 04, 2013
Missed the deadline again for a budget.  5 years now, no budget.  He is above the law, evidently.  The House needs to crack down and not give him another cent.  Where is he?  He's out campaigning for gun control to a bunch of policemen.  He is just unbelievable. ...

How Do MT Millionaires Spend Their Tax Breaks?Jun 10, 2011
Paul Egerman, founder of eScription, doesn't know how many millions he has saved from the Bush tax cuts, but it may be more than $10 million. When asked what he has done with all that cash, he said "I have kept it. I haven't done anything with that money." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/06/patriotic-millionaires-bush-tax-cuts_n_871840.html ...

Coffee Breaks Without Losing ProductivityOct 22, 2009
Thought I'd share -- I finally found a way to get a fresh cup of coffee in under 2 minutes (fingers not typing=no money)...  I found a great website that delivers single serve coffee makers & machines.  The machine brews in about 45 seconds, so I'm back at it faster.  What's even better, my 10-year-old can now make me a cup because it's so easy to use.  My 6 a.m. shift is a little easier now :) www.coffeemarvel.com   ...

The Party Of The Paychecks For The Wealthy.Oct 07, 2010
The party of the paycheck, huh?  Whose bonehead idea was this slogan?  Clearly not RNC Chair Michael I-don’t-do-policy-only-strategy Steele, who does not even know what the minimum wage rate is.  But take heart.  He is not alone.      Financial disclosure reports submitted by Linda McMahon, GOP candidate for the US senate from CT, indicate assets with values ranging between $156 million to $400 million , plus a huge chunk of mystery money.  Her ...

Tax Breaks For Special Interests In Compromised BillDec 12, 2010
So, now the dems have added more to the pot. Dozens of tax breaks designed to help a wide variety of interests - students, teachers, energy companies and lots of others - are due to expire at the end of the year, and most of them have been tacked on to the White House/Republican tax-cut deal to help it get through Congress The final package, released late Thursday, would extend tax credits for producing ethanol and for hiring American Indians. It would maintain deductions for teachers who ...

Bucl Sexton Breaks Down President Obama's Jul 08, 2014
Sexton introduced his audience to a concept he learned while working at the Central Intelligence agency called “red cell.” “Red cell is basically a war-gaming exercise, but it looks specifically at high-impact, low-probability scenarios,” Sexton explained. “Things that could happen, and if they did happen, would really make a very big difference. It also looks at things that are likely, and tries to then give us a sense — an analytic sense — of where all this is going.” “ ...

Tom Hanks Breaks From Hollywood Pack MentalityNov 17, 2016
In what is certainly sure to draw ire from some, if not many, in the Hollywood community, two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks opted for grace and class when speaking about President-elect Donald Trump. After a week of hysteria-laden open letters and Twitter rants from entertainment industry liberals like Aaron Sorkin and Joss Whedon, Hanks' calm demeanor and response really stood out. The actor was being honored at the Museum of Modern Art in New York when he offered a refreshing dose o ...

WHY Ryan? How About His Close Ties To Wealthy Donors On The RightOct 06, 2012
From a N.Y. Times article on why Romeny chose Mr. Ryan as his running mate: "Less well known are Mr. Ryan’s close ties to the donors and activists who have channeled Tea Party anger into a $400 million political machine, financed by a network of conservative and libertarian donors that now rivals, and occasionally challenges, the Republican establishment behind Mr. Romney. Mr. Ryan is one of a very few elected officials who have attended the Kochs’ biannual conferences, where wealt ...
