The rich were actually taxed which left more for the country which made pockets fuller. For 30+ years since that changed the richer have become 3 times richer and the middle class is slowly disappearing. If this trend continues we will be a third world country where there are only the very rich and the very poor. It has to be understood that money equals power which is why lobbyists and special interest groups run this country.
