My fervent hope....

I haven't contributed to this board very long, but it's been very helpful in making me challenge my beliefs and try to look at things from all perspectives. For that I thank you.
Coming here today, it seems to me that as the election draws near, passions here are rising above issues (and common courtesy) and things turn ugly quickly. We're bombarded by the the nastiest, lowest presidntial campaign I recall and I think it's infecting the populus in general. To each their own, but that's not my cup of tea, so I'm going to stop my exposure to it -- no more news, no more facebook, no more political discussions.
No matter how this election turns out, it's my hope we will ALL remember that no matter who becomes president, we all must walk this earth together and each and every person on it deserves courtesy or respect... no matter whether you agree with them or not. Without that, at the end of the day, no matter who ends up running this country, we have nothing.
Thanks again for allowing me to be part of the board. I wish you all well. Having turned off the television and quit answering the phone, I'm going to go sit in the corner and ommmmmmmm now until after this blasted election.

[ In Reply To ..]I tend to agree with you. I usually hang out on the other boards and have not really paid much attention to this one until recently. But being bored, I started coming here. I find mostly insults and one-liners. No one really tries to influence others or change their minds. It seems like we have all made up our minds, Dems or Republicans. We cannot really agree on anything, so we just sling mud and call names, but I guess that's the nature of politics and any discussion board on politics. I too wish you all well, but carry on without me.
