Yes, as a matter of fact, he did. Talked about it on GMA - April 2011.

He was a freshman senator when he made those remarks, much like the greenhorns we witness now going around claiming going off the debt ceiling cliff is "no biggie."

Here is what he said on GMA:

I think that it's important to understand the vantage point of a senator versus the vantage point of a president. When you're a senator, traditionally what's happened is, this is always a lousy vote. Nobody likes to be tagged as having increased the debt limit — for the United States by a trillion dollars. As president, you start realizing, you know what, we, we can't play around with this stuff. This is the full faith and credit of the United States. And so that was just an example of a NEW SENATOR MAKING WHAT IS A POLITICAL VOTE AS OPPOSED TO DOING WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO THE COUNTRY. And I'm the first one to acknowledge it.

Anyone interested in the full context of the comment instead of the rather abbreviated version in the OP can go here:

Oh, well then. If he talked about it, it must be true. - me

academics, and politicians not beholding to the destructionists have been, are and will continue to say about it because it's true. Even Boner knows better.

Did you post the congressional record of Barack Obama, a man for whom you have no respect and with whom you have never agreed on a single thing, as validation for RW extremists who insist not raising the debt ceiling is no big deal?

Just A Reminder For Dog LoversFeb 08, 2014
It's time once again for my favorite event of the year.  The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show airs Monday and Tuesday nights 8-11 p.m.   The first night according to Comcast TV guide wil be aired on CNBC.  The second night is on USA.  I attended the show in 2006 when Rufus, the Colored Bull Terrier won BIS.  What a thrill when they turn the lights down and announce each group winner!   The applause just about brings the house down! Happy Watching! ...

Charles Krauthammer is a brilliant man. Really. A man of character who lives his life in a Wheelchair. Among other careers, he is a doctor of psychiatry. He was a devoted Democratic activist and presidential adviser. An independent thinker who won the Pulitzer Prize. He has both liberal and conservative stances and writes a weekly column in the National Review which is syndicated to 400 newspapers. He has been a regular panelist on a variety of programs, including Fox News. Mr. Kra ...

Robert Mueller Is A ReminderJun 21, 2017
Reputation:  Something that takes a lifetime to build, but only seconds to destroy. Just because a man has behaved honorably in the past is no guarantee that he is doing so now.   In the matter of character, history is littered with examples of men who let it slip through their fingers, and Robert Mueller is in peril of doing precisely that. Resign, Mr. Mueller.  You have too many painfully obvious conflicts of interest for this job, which are becoming more and more apparent by ...

A Reminder On Foreign Policy And Obama.Oct 23, 2012
Remember 2008? One of Obama's weak points was foreign policy....he had NO experience in foreign policy. A lot of people don't want to vote for Romney because he doesn't have any foreign policy experience. To those people, I would love to know why they would vote for a candidate that had no foreign policy experience one year and four years later refuse to vote for someone because they don't have any foreign policy experience? Doesn't make sense to me. This post really d ...

Reminder: Obama Promised War In AfghanistanAug 23, 2017
On Monday, President Donald Trump laid out his strategy for the war in Afghanistan going into 2018 and beyond. While reaction to the strategy was somewhat mixed, there was one thing that stuck out: Wait, didn't former President Barack Obama say that we'd be done with this by now? Why yes, yes he did. Let's take a trip in the way-back machine and look at some now-regrettable tweets, dug up by Fox's Stephen Miller: FACT: Unlike President Obama, Romney has no plan to ...

A Reminder For Eric Cantor's Website YouVoteJun 18, 2010
For those that don't know it, or have not signed up yet, we get to vote on what cuts are made in government spending. Every time they chose items to vote on, they send an email to you as a reminder and also tell you who voted for the cut and who did not vote for the cut. A decent way to keep track of our reps. There are 5 choices. Below is one that made me furious. No wonder Tim Geithner didn't pay his taxes. LOL (really not funny) Require Collection of Unpaid Taxes From Federal Empl ...
