Just one of the NRA's "kneecapping" maneuvers accomplished via influence on Congress, and much, much more at the link below. But yesterday Obama named his choice for the first full-time director of the ATF in 7 years. The current one is part time and commutes from Minneapolis and his full-time job there as a U.S. Attorney. The way to control government is through an educated - people who vote. If it comes to
[ In Reply To ..]war with government troops, We the People will lose. The first thing they'll do is cut the internet off. Cut the phones off. Pick up the real leaders--not the silly noisemakers on the internet. Cut the power. Cut off transportation. Cut the water.
How many hours would it take the typical person to walk home from work to get his or her gun? Or would he detour to go get his kids can carry them 5 miles home from the babysitter's first? How much time spent trying to find the rest of the family--before going out to take care of the government troops who've taken over the town. Alone, because he has no idea how to get hold of anyone without the web.
We cannot ever let it come to that, and the only way to prevent it is through education. Take a good look around you--how many of your freedom-loving compatriots would be fighting FOR a fascist takeover because they didn't know enough not to? Ignorant people are ridiculously easy to jerk around by their fears--and to set them fighting each other.
And their misconceptions: It's not mainstream liberals and progressives who support government murders and oppression of innocent citizens. When you investigate those incidents, it's often bad managers just following orders or buckling to pressure from the media or politicians worried about their image. When there is a group behind it, it's almost always social conservatives and/or those businessmen who'd stand to profit.
Education. We have to start by being smart enough to understand who our allies and our enemies are. That's how we protect ourselves--by standing together and not electing enemies to power.
Oh, I get it! So the ATF will have more leverage to arrest - law-abiding citizens that have guns-nm
