Phew, it has gotten really nasty on this board with each side acusing the other of insults and nastiness. All I have to say is there are none so blind as those who will not see. I also see a lot of ganging up and bullying. Therefore, I am going to try to start keeping some sort of score. At the very least, maybe it will encourage people to be more civil to one another. Everyone should also understand that on most political forums there are people who drive by and post nasty comments just to get regular posters riled up. Sometimes I think they are teenagers looking for entertainment. I also think that a poster who claims something to be a truth they should be the one responsible for posting a link and let the reader accept it, investigate further if they choose, but stop the hate, stupid, and treat each other with respect.

How about it? Starting now.

Glad to see you back! Agree with pretty much all you stated. Where should I send your Excedrin..LOL. The only thing I am not completely in agreement with is the posting links, sites, etc. I have done so extensively in the past, only for the the drive-bys to come out in full force, call me a liar, stupid, uninformed...you get the idea. If someone is interested in verifying anything posted anywhere, they only have to Google or Bing it, or use whatever search method they chose. If they feel they are savvy enough to discuss politics, they should be savvy enough to do their own research, regardless of whether they agree/disagree with a post. They way I figure, if there is any interest in finding the truth, someone is going to do what they need to on their own. I am not going to hand-hold someone through the process. Anyway, glad to see you back and look forward to your posts.

it reflects negatively on the name caller, not on you, regardless of how nasty they get. You've done your part by showing a source, standing behind your post and opinions and by inviting civil discourse on the issue. The person replying in such a way merely exposes their own weakness and incapacity to engage in a civil conversation by refusing to offer any productive counterpoints, opting instead to hurl meaningless personal insults. Those posts should be totally ignored. If more of us could refrain from responding to these trolls, they would end up being isolated or simply drop out of sight.

I agree with the OP. Posting links to back up facts, claims and opinions should be done by the one who is bringing those issues to the forum.

It is really bad. Sometimes people just go overboard. I will be interested to see your score. :-) Your posts sounds like you are a neutral person.

I too think the link thing is going to be hard for some. Like Conservative said links are posted only to come back with nasty name calling, saying certain links are not credible, but the ones they post are. I also think posters need to do some of the research themselves. Because basically what I see happening is someone will post an article and they'll be shot back with not credible, tin foil hat wearer, conspiracy theorist (which is a smoke screen used by people who don't want the truth to come out), etc.

I think when someone posts an article they are wanting to share information with it. It is the readers responsibility to either pull up that article and if they don't agree do some research on their own. Why should posters have to list a dozen or so websites so that the repliers can come back with not credible, winger.
