"Mitt the twit." "Kind of like Mr. Bean, only he’s an American.”

This is what happens in a friendly country where all he had to do was keep his mouth shut. Can't wait till he gets to Israel. LOL.

Kind of like Mr. Bean... - only he

Mr Bean's fundraising gimmick - sm

[ In Reply To ..]

With so many great Mr Bean images a mere click away, my early first pick that best depicts the honor Brits have bestowed upon Romney by comparing the two would be the Red Nose Day getup, whereby bucks are raised by doing something "funny for money."

Candidate Bean can probably score big with his enamored donors by picking up a few extra million or so in sympathy contributions before skipping town in disgrace.  Here we see a last minute change in holiday travel accommodations as he makes a desperate last ditch effort to avoid further encounters with the British press.

Mr Bean makes no apologies - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
In his book, "No Apologies: The Case for American Greatness" (which he correctly predicted would never be a bestseller) Romney says:

"England is just a small island. Its roads and houses are small. With few exceptions, it doesn't make things that people in the rest of the world want to buy. And if it hadn't been separated from the continent by water, it almost certainly would have been lost to Hitler's ambitions."

Tell us how you really feel, Mitt. I'm surprised he didn't make his case for future US neocolonization of the tiny Anglo-Saxon outpost, and how much of a favor we would be doing for them by bringing them back into the fold.

sounds like he doesn't recognize the role of the UK - during WWII...nm

Not to mention Ws much ballyhooed - Coalition of the Willing,

[ In Reply To ..]
The War on Terror, Afghanistan (both before and after the War on Terror), Operation Desert Storm, Libyan operations in the 1980s, the Falklands/Grenada cooperative intervention, the nuclear arms race, the joint coup-de-tat in Iran that overthrew democratically elected Mohammed Mosaddeq and reinstalled the West's puppet shah, The Korean War, the creation of NATO, the Marshall Plan, WWI, and the Spanish-American War....buckets of blood, sweat and tears, coutless lost lives, all forgotten for the sake of a little testosterone-driven, jingoistic, kind-of-the-jungle chest-beating. Impressive stuff.

The Israel stopover. - What could possibly go wrong?

[ In Reply To ..]
In the days leading up his diplomatic mission, Romney campaign aides explained one of the main reasons for the Israel stopover was “…to demonstrate a clear and resolute stand with “countries that are under siege like Israel.” Does that include those that are occupied? Of course not, only ones with a “shared history and shared values.” Wonder how they will seg between the candidate’s exclusive understanding of "Anglo-Saxon heritage” and a nation of chosen people who in the 21st century seem to be suffering from a collective case of intractable Nazi Germany Stockholm syndrome.

There he will be hanging with packs of folks who many outside the US (including our western allies) view as war criminals, trying to capitalize on another “special relationship” with Bibi Netan-yahoo, with whom Romney worked at a consulting firm back in the day. He will be violating W’s #1 diss-plomatic "honest broker" cornerstone axiom (the US does not negotiate with terrorists) and will be meeting with Palestinian National Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, appointed by PLO Chairman President Mahmoud Abbas after the Hamas takeover of the Gaza Strip. PM Fayyad vehemently opposes recognition of Israel “statehood.”

The Israel trip itinerary sets a stage conducive to the advancement of silver-foot-in-mouth disease symptomatic manifestations at every turn. Take for example the photo-op scheduled at the Western Wall. Wonder if he will remove his shoes, prostrate himself, recite prayer and kiss it before leaving? The visit to the Yad Vashem, the Holocaust museum, is even more risky. I feel virtually certain the Israeli press is poised to be watching him like a hawk, and are ready to pounce the moment he arrives there.

For example, Haaretz could publish an exhaustive historical review detailing the vicarious LDS posthumous baptisms of prominent deceased Jews, such as Albert Einstein and Irving Berlin, and of thousands of Holocaust victims, not to mention Nazi murderer Adolf Hitler and his devoted Eva Braun. Special focus could be placed on the continuation of the arrogant, if not abhorrent, LDS practice following a 1995 promise the church made to remove Jewish Nazi victims from its International Genealogical Index. More than 19,000 names remain intact on that database as we speak.

Romney could easily be caught off guard when asked to justify why the infamous GOP CPAC hosted a lecture by Peter Brimelow, founder of the white supremacist website VDARE, that features a virtual compendium of anti-Semitic essays. This could be another piercing deer-in-the-headlights “duh” moment, no doubt about it.

While discussing the finer points of Jewish holiday traditions at the fundraiser, which the Romney camp cluelessly scheduled on the sad and somber Tisha b’av fast observance, he may find himelf at a loss for words (AGAIN) to explain why fellow primary candidate Rick Santorum’s “team” felt it was appropriate to plaster the following New Testament “salvation through Christ” passage all over their Hanukkah greeting cards (!!!): “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Yep. I’m right there with you on this. I am enthusiastically anticipating this leg of the tour and find myself positively giddy with excitement.

replete with tiresome retreads, recycled flops from last week's deadly bore offerings, void of political commentary, not an original idea for as far as the eye can see, trying to create a ruckus but only able to manage making a pitiful spectacle of themselves once again with the impotent BENEATH ME bully bytes. Oh please. No one is more insulting than the GOP against their opponents. McCain and Dole thrived on insults. I don't think Mitt is going to be anywhere as entertaining as Sarah Palin though. What a moron she is!!! And of course there's the foot in the mouth queen, Michelle Bachman.

Instead of waging useless wars on history of their own making, the cons could try running on policy issues, not throwing down red meat for the base to feast upon that inevitably comes back to bite them in their collective backsides, out-of-context distortions, fabrications and outright falsehoods, and feeble attempts to recast their egregiously offensive past behaviors in a more favorable light. No, wait. Exposing their now legendary recalcitrance to learning from past mistakes and their secret, W/Cheneyesque hidden policy agendas, proven to be colossal failures still fresh in the minds of the more level-headed voters among us from both sides, would insure resounding defeat.

Campaiging between a rock and a hard spot. Not a pretty sight.

Thanks for the preview....sm - JTBB
