Democrats more successful at fighting terrorists than GOP, Hoyer brags
Commissioner Raymond Kelly bungled a few Hollywood references while congratulating NYPD officers, citizens and federal agencies for working together to successfully capture the accused Times Square bomber before he attempted to flee the country.
"When he was apprehended last evening at the JFK airport, it was 53 hours and 20 minutes," Kelly said. "Now we know that Jack Bauer can do it in 24 minutes but in the real world 53 hours is a pretty good number."
Actually, Kiefer Sutherland's super-agent from the long-running show 24 -- which was canceled by Fox in its eighth season but will reportedly be resurrected on the big screen -- usually took up to a full day to track, torture, and execute the dastardly usually-Muslim villains from unnamed foreign countries he typically tracked each season.
Kelly also said at Tuesday's press conference: "So if you look at the components, the timer, the gasoline can, the m-88s, the propane tanks, the gun box, put all of that together, that lethal assembly made a very big hurt locker."
