NYPD officers

turned their backs on DeBlasio as he approached the lectern for the news conference. What a hypocrite!!!

He and the others (you know who they are) have blood on their hands. May Officers Liu and Ramos RIP.

They sure have a lot to be proud about. Words cannot describe what BO's legacy will ultimately end up being. One can only imagine unless THEY miraculously turn this sick situation around.

by sticking their noses into the situations regarding Professor Gates, Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and Eric Garner.

Since when do domestic issues warrant federal intervention and/or presidential opinion?

Oh, yeah, to stir the pot. Got it.

I remember BO once saying we are not a black and white America, but a United States of America.

Oh, yeah? How's that working out for you now? Now that you and your thug pals have brought race baiting to a whole new level.

The politicization of race relations was brought about by BO, EH and AS. For once, I don't believe JJ had a hand in this.

I wonder if DeBlasio will attend the officers' funerals? - He probably should stay away.

[ In Reply To ..]
I think he should step down as mayor. He will never get back the trust and/or respect of the 35K police officers under him.

Some NYPD are starting a new campaign called, "I can breathe because I didn't steal."

"lily-white hands" sorry it's just an expression, pretending they had nothing to do with it. I'm sure Sharpless will do the same. You know, call for peace and all that rot, after he and his buddies caused all this. He should just crawl back in his hole from whence he came. If DiBlasio is stupid enough to attend those funerals, I'm sure he will be sorry he did. I bet the family will tell him stay away, just like Garner's family told Sharpless to butt out. However, I'm sure we will be able to count on the Westboro Baptist Church to attend.

DeBlasio should get rid of Bratton - and others that do not fall in line

I'm not surprised. Typical arrogant, self-entitled NYPD, same ones who strangled a man - on the street

[ In Reply To ..]
Wouldn't it have been nice if they made a gesture to bring the community together, but no, they are the same group that continues to divide the community with their misguided sense of superiority.

The mayor did not execute those police officers. A man who had no business possessing a gun (AGAIN) did.

This should be a time of healing, reflecting on how we arrived in this place, and figuring out a way to avoid senseless killings, but NYPD has chosen to publicly isolate themselves from their leaders and from their community. Very disappointing and I'm afraid all this will be repeated too soon.

to keep POLITICS out of these situations. DeBlasio IS a socialist and race baiter. He stood with Occupy Wall Street anarchists and stood with Al Sharpton against the police.

He studied Latin American politics at Columbia and was an admirer of Nicaragua’s ruling Sandinista party back in the '80s. He helped raise funds for the Sandinistas in New York and subscribed to the party’s newspaper, Barricada, or Barricade. His goals for society was an advocate of “democratic socialism.”

He now describes himself as a progressive and, surprise, surpise! still believes in democratic socialism.

For those that don't know the meaning of "democratic socialism, it is a form of socialism with a democratic government; the ownership and control of the means of production, capital, land, property, etc.,by the community as a whole-combined with a democratic government

Social ownership could take many forms, such as worker-owned cooperatives or publicly owned enterprises managed by workers and consumer representatives. Democratic socialists favor as much decentralization as possible. While the large concentrations of capital in industries such as energy and steel may necessitate some form of state ownership, many consumer-goods industries might be best run as cooperatives.

IOW, the type of government that Venezuela, Russia, Cuba, and other countries like those 3. This is not freedom and this is not what the United States was built on or believes.

It really has nothing to do with whether the mayor is a socialist and - has nothing to

[ In Reply To ..]
do with other countries and their forms of government. It has to do with police officers who continue to be unqualified to do their jobs, a false sense of entitlement to do whatever they want because they are the police, and probably several other factors.

I really don't see how your post has anything to do with my post. The newly elected mayor has absolutely nothing to do with any of the blunders of unqualified, macho cops of late and probably many in the past that we will never know about (for the same reason in unison they all turned their back on a leader--they stick together--or else). What does his political affiliation have to do with what is right and what is wrong? It has to do with respect, of which they displayed none.

Again, a man with a GUN who has mental issues, killed police officers. He had NO BUSINESS possessing a gun. The mayor did not kill the police officers. Police officers and community leader need to show a unified commitment to protect ALL their citizens. I see no light at the end of this tunnel.

I don't get why Republicans want to turn this into political mud slinging, oh he's a commie, a socialist. No, he is a leader.

We need to move forward and address these social (not socialist FYI, but I'm sure it's all the same to some Cons, can't discern the difference for some reason) issues, i.e., police brutality, gun control, etc., with a clear understanding of the root problems with a path to solving them, not letting political prejudice cloud the reality of right and wrong.

DeBlasio is what happens when you elect a commie - by only 18%, to do a man's job

[ In Reply To ..]
Complete anarchy. Hope if DeBlasio has need of the police he has so villified, they respond every so slowly to "reflect" and "justify" and think through every action they take. Just like Rahm Emanuel, whose sun was mugged outside the residence...never hesitated to call the cops to help them. Meanwhile, none of these commies ever do anything for the cops.

Maybe if the cops weren't such control freak, - militaristic Nazis

I've seen a lot of articles and a lot of comments over the past 3 days. Most are supporting the NYPD, and at least 99.9% are calling for DeBlasio to step down.

The mayor has a well-documented history of anti-establishment and counterculture behavior, has astoundingly supported the NYPD’s efforts to curb crime utilizing George Kelling’s “broken-windows theory.’’

The mayor, unfortunately, has failed to truly grasp the concept, which in layman’s terms theorizes that petty crime will eventually lead to more serious crime.

When you allow protesters a wide berth to exercise their First Amendment rights in the form of blocking traffic and suffocating our city’s bridges, this will naturally graduate to minor destruction of property. When that form of uncivil disobedience goes unanswered, the natural progression continues to the destruction of police property and assaults on police officers in the form of spit or synthetic blood.

When those methods are further unchecked, a policy of acquiescence coming straight from City Hall, the natural progression continues. It comes in the form of the gang assault of two NYPD Legal Bureau lieutenants on the Brooklyn Bridge, ironically assigned to oversee the fair application of the law during the protests.

A proverbial window was broken, Your Honor. You did nothing. A few real windows were broken. You did nothing. A police car’s windshield was broken. You did nothing. An NYPD lieutenant’s nose was broken. You did nothing. On Saturday, two policemen’s families lives weren’t just broken. They were shattered.
