KT McFarland to be deputy national security adviser

Posted: Nov 25, 2016

Things are moving right along. I couldn't be more pleased with the chain of events. I hope Hillary is enjoying retirement and has come to grips with knowing the American people didn't want her as president.;

Couldn't agree more. She's smart as a whip. - Not pulling for Romney though.

Word is he's being "strongly considered" for a cabinet post, but I don't honestly see how he walks back some of the venomous things he said that were really over the top (and forever disabused me of the impression I had that he was a very sophisticated, mature and measured person). He didn't just express opposition to Trump on political or philosophical grounds. He came after him on a personal level with a chainsaw dripping blood - and like many others I stunned by the degree of animosity that he expressed in an outrageous rant that was quite adolescent.

Whether fences are mended or not, if he were to be given a cabinet post the media would have a field day playing his remarks over and over and over and over - and this would certainly damage his ability to serve, as well as the Trump administration itself. It could even prevent him from being confirmed, as there are a number of Republicans who wouldn't vote for him and it would only take a few.

On the other hand, Romney certainly understands business very well, and I could understand if he were offered some sort of low-profile advisory role with regard to commerce and the economy.

WikiLeaks - The MSM And National SecurityJul 27, 2010
By Howard Kurtz Washington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, July 27, 2010; 10:03 AM Question of the day: Should the New York Times, the Guardian and Der Spiegel have done it? Should they have collaborated with the organization known as WikiLeaks in publicizing 92,000 pages of secret documents about the war in Afghanistan? The White House wasted no time in denouncing the leaks as "irresponsible." The news organizations can argue, above all, that these documents provide vital information about ...

Schwarzenegger Praises Obama On National SecurityJan 11, 2010
By David EdwardsSunday, January 10th, 2010 -- 1:31 pm Not all Republicans are slamming President Barack Obama's handling of the failed Christmas day bombing of Northwest Airlines flight 253. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger offered praise for the president Sunday. "I think that he's doing everything that he can," Schwarzenegger told NBC's David Gregory. "I think that, you know, Democrats, a lot of times get the rap [that] they are not strong on security and those things ...

FBI's 'National Security Letters' Ruled Unconstitutional, CannotMar 16, 2013
Big, big decision. Note, this at the Federal District Court level. A dem. From NPR: A federal judge in California ruled today that the FBI cannot secretly demand data from banks and phone companies in national security cases. The judge said orders that keep those requests secret violate the First Amendment. NPR's Carrie Johnson filed this report for our Newscast unit: "The demands known as 'national security letters' became a quick and popular tool for the FBI to gather inf ...

Obama's Manning Decision: Obama's Dangerous Move Reveals Scary Take On National SecurityJan 18, 2017
The commutation of Chelsea Manning’s prison term will forever be a blot on President Obama’s legacy. Just as the pardon granted Marc Rich by President Clinton on his last day in office became a totem of the odious pay-to-play money grubbing of Bill and Hillary, l’affaire Manning will be an enduring reminder of Obama’s constant pandering to special voter groups and mindless adherence to a progressive agenda. It will also stand as testimony to President Obama’s questionable fealty to ...

The "national Security" Justification: Are ThereJun 11, 2013
It's been said that a cat won't sit on a hot stove twice, nor on a cold one either.  The cat learns a lesson from the hot stove - but it only learns that the stove itself is dangerous; it doesn't distinguish a hot stove from a cold one. It learns, yes, but it learns the wrong thing, and in doing so it takes the "lesson" beyond the existential reality, i.e. that it is heat, and not the stove itself, that is dangerous. Was 9/11 our "hot stove"?  In the panic that followe ...

McMaster Ousts Trump Adviser Who Tried To Jul 29, 2017
Derek Harvey was the key figure when it came to the Middle East. He was against the Iran Deal and the funding of Palestinian Authority terror. He called out Islamic Jihad. He tried to force out the Obama holdovers running our foreign policy. And now he's gone. McMaster's purge at the NSC continues. Flynn's people get forced out and replaced with establishment zombies. The Obama holdovers continue to run foreign policy. The swamp is now in full control of the NSC. This ...

White House Adviser Insults Native American For Wearing WashingtonAug 19, 2016
Barrett Dahl, an autistic Native American from Oklahoma, was visiting Washington, D.C., in October of last year on a school trip. Being in Washington inspired Dahl to wear a sweater featuring the logo of the Washington Redskins. Mr. Dahl says he wore the sweater because it gave him a sense of cultural pride. Not surprisingly, not everyone sees it quite that way -- including a White House advisor named William Mendoza, who confronted Dahl at a Pow Wow, called him a "weetard," spit on him, and ...

Former McCain Adviser: Republicans Pushing Party ‘far To The White’May 05, 2010
By Ron BrynaertTuesday, May 4th, 2010 -- 12:07 pm It took many years for Senator John McCain to lose his unofficial RINO (conservative acronym for 'Republican In Name Only') status. And even though the Arizona senator has done his best to mollify conservatives that he backs a controversial new law which critics say will lead to racial profiling of Latinos, Republicans related to him in family and politics are taking the opposite point of view. At Bloomberg News, Keven Hassett, an eco ...

Oakland's Deputy Mayor Cornu And Dan Siegel, Legal Advisor To MayorNov 14, 2011
How refreshing to see gutsy city officials follow their conscience.  (Reuters) - A top adviser to Oakland Mayor Jean Quan resigned on Monday over the city's handling of anti-Wall Street demonstrations, describing a morning raid to clear a downtown protest camp as a mistake that could trigger more volatility. Civil rights attorney Dan Siegel told Reuters he resigned at 2 a.m., hours before the raid on the Occupy Oakland encampment, after insisting that police should protect, not disma ...

Anybody See The Article On The National Debt?Jan 17, 2011
$14T and growing at a rate of $4 billion a day! Isn't that just ducky! The government borrows 41 cents for every dollar it spends and we, the people,  every man, woman, and child, equals $45,300. I'm so glad my 3-yo grandson will have a good life. Has the TARP money been applied to this debt? I didn't see anything in any article on that. What to do? Raising the debt ceiling will keep us "solvent" for a little while, but what happens when that limit is reached? Will they rais ...

How About A National Obamacare Waiver?Mar 25, 2017
nearly 20 percent of exemptions from Pelosi's crowning health care achievement were doled out in her backyard. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's home state—received a partial statewide Obamacare waiver, too. If you're keeping score, Reid was Pelosi's counterpart in the Senate fighting to get Obamacare passed into law. Now his state will be one of three to get a waiver from the law's requirements, while the rest of America suffers. Why did Nevada get a waiver? ...

Are We Going To Keep Social Security Or Abandon It?Sep 22, 2012
Social Security is a progressive entitlement program created by Republicans and Democrats working together. Those conservatives ideologically opposed have always tried to get rid of it, but voters wouldn't let them because it has always served its purpose of protecting us from the possibility of destitution when we're too old to work.  Now their tactic of destroying it by delaying necessary adjustments has successfully brought Social Security to the point of failure. Like a home ...
