Journalists are no longer journalists

They don't investigate and report anymore, they go to "symposiums" to be told what to say: Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2013/01/17/pro-obamacare-group-sponsoring-symposium-to-train-journalists-how-to-report-on-obamacare/#ixzz2IHw8znHa;

Daily Squalor mounts soapbox to lecture on - integrity in journalism.

Do you not agree that Obamacare - RC

[ In Reply To ..]
is going to be a complex issue, and holding a conference to discuss it with journalists is a good idea?

No one is telling them what to say. They're relaying information.

The journalists can and will say whatever they want.

They are lapdogs. They will say what he tells them to say. - Where have you been?

[ In Reply To ..]
Say what they want? Really?

Mindless lap dog versus mindless attack dog. - FWIW (not much), one gets paid. nm

of how conservatives get ridiculed and attacked every time they post something. I plan to do the same until it stops or we get a separate board to discuss issues.
Yea, and I told myself I'd stop getting so aggravated. - Okay, here's something this made me think
[ In Reply To ..]
of--Brian Williams. I saw him being interviewed yesterday. Great guy, well liked, very well thought of, honored, highly paid. A true lap dog and fine example to all the others of what they can aspire to. But a corporate lap dog, not government. He's spent his entire career prospering in TV script reading while TV news went down the toilet, all the great days of TV news in the past, and his performances the living embodiment of its decline. IMO all the awards given him over his career are a sad joke. On us.

TV new's little repolishings after such debacles as, oh, the fight over Michael Jackson's estate for an example outstandingly obvious to everyone, or more recently their pathetically lacking coveage of the 2012 election, are just that--superficial buffings for appearance. The evening news is constantly interrupted for the commercials that are its reason for being, and the news coverage is styled to draw in the most and offend the fewest potential customers.

So, in this environment, the only thing that surprises me is that anyone watches it at all.

I do say that there is plenty of good print journalism to be found by those who want to.
No, thank you! - neener

Your post is proof that some will take anything out of context in order to create drama, satisfy a need to play victim, and subsequently create yet more conflict.

Just what in that post is proof of conservatives (on this board) being attacked?? Their post was not directed personally at the OP. Unless, of course, you think the OP is a journalist being paid to post here... allrightythen.

Please use the link below and take note of the first paragraph.

...and perhaps the poster was fighting "lapdog" with "lapdog". Did you NOT note that the initial lapdog remark was an instance of ridicule from the right? Turnaround is fair play, dear. I wish you guys could be honest about this.

Meanwhile, Commentary (neocon) Mag is hosting symposium on - why Mitt lost.

[ In Reply To ..]
Please note, that's symposium minus the quotes. As you can see, symposiums can be valuable learning experiences. This one is a rather ambitious undertaking trying to come to a consensus on how to think about losing two elections in a row and to examine the future of conservatism. I learned from the comments section just how futile the question of reaching a CONS consensus really is.

any criticism of Obamacare;)

Even if this is some nefarious plot to re-educate journalists, unless they are being strapped down and brainwashed Clockwork Orange style, they will likely be able to retain their own beliefs and opinions. M*Modal's been brainwashing me for a decade and I still hate them.

Also, most journalists today are nothing but talking heads anyway. Look at Fox News, MSNBC. CNN fired their investigators so they could be more like the Fox and MSNBC. I'm not saying that makes it right, but it doesn't make it Left either so to speak.

The administration has the right to make their case. Conservatives will still hate them because it's socialized medicine and I'll still be disappointed because it isn't socialized medicine.

And no, the media aren't mouthpieces for the White House. They are mouthpieces for the corporations. The White House is also a mouthpiece for the corporations. So, at most, the White House and media are kissing cousins.

A "like" just isn't enough - bootstraps

If I did the Facebook, this would be my favorite quote:

"Conservatives will still hate them because it's socialized medicine and I'll still be disappointed because it isn't socialized medicine."

Your eloquence and the others', especially on the end of times post below, has been quite enjoyable reading.

The White House hates corporations. Where have you been? - If they didn't hate corporations, they wouldn

have the war against the rich. Most of the wealthy weren't born with the proverbial silver spoon. They earned that spoon by starting a company and building it up through hard work.

You're dreaming if you think the White House is a mouthpiece for corporations,

The media is the mouthpiece for the White House. The White House says "jump" and the media says "how high?"

A war against the rich? - Fanatical Hypocrite

[ In Reply To ..]
In what way has there been a war against the rich? Obama is rich. Obama supports the rich. Obama enables the rich. While I support Obama, me and him separate furthest on what should be done about them. Obama is an Evil Empire away from being Reagan (except he doesn't raise taxes so much) while I'm closer to Robespierre (voted mostly likely to lead a violent insurrection against the wealthy, name himself God and then be executed for it in school - and I was home schooled, so that was all the more awkward.)

Kidding aside, Obama gave the rich billions and saved their worthless careers. He hasn't punished anyone, including those terrorist loving drug pushers over at HSBC or those equally repugnant Bank of Americans. Everyone in America is being forced to buy the faulty product of giant heartless insurance companies that use death panels to ensure only the rich get treatment. The administration has literally said that the banks are too powerful to ever put on trial. Nothing has been done to stem the tide of offshoring. Sorry, but when I fantasize about a war on the rich, it doesn't involve giving them more of my money and forcing me to do business with them.

The biggest problem with this whole image of Obama the dictator is that dictators get what they want. You think Saddam Hussein ever heard the word "No," without it being immediately followed by an execution? If Obama asks to be excused to go to the little president's room, the Republicans make him hold it until the end of the meeting.

No, so completely wrong. That someone wants to control floods - doesn't mean he hates water. nm

what are you talking about?

Nonsense. TV journalism's mostly garbage, but - there's plenty of the real thing in writing.

[ In Reply To ..]
It's not for amateurs without education or resources, tho. Suggest bypassing the noisemakers and heading for journalists with good connections--and judgment and integrity, of course.

I read this yesterday. They have to be told "how to report." - This is really bad. (sm)

[ In Reply To ..]
They should be ashamed to call themselves journalists. They are not. They are WH tools. I like how Mark Levin called out Bob Schieffer yesterday - called out doesn't do justice to what Levin said about him.

Message for all posters on Political board

Posted By: Moderator on 2008-11-13

The topics on this board can be very inflammatory and sensitive. In general, you need to be able to control your emotions and develop a "thick skin" to get along on this board.

Please remember that the Politics board is for political issues/topics. Anything regarding faith, religion, God, atheism, etc., belongs on the Faith board and those topics will be removed.

We are not moderating the Politics board to make it a "nice" place to have "nice" discussions. We moderate it to ensure that as much opportunity to express views, discuss opinions, and debate topics exists. There will be heated exchanges sometimes. Respect and civility can be maintained even when debates occur. This means that you will have to moderate your own reading/responding at times. If a specific poster upsets you, don't read the post. Sometimes you will simply need to refrain from posting.

On occasion, there will be hit-and-run posters or trolls who try to upset you with their posts. Ignore those posts. The more you respond, the more you feed their need for attention. If there is foul language, hate speech, threats of violence or personal attacks, please use the REPORT THIS MESSAGE (at the top right corner of every message) feature available. Do not try to police the board yourself nor try to rally people to your support. Let us simply weed out the posts and posters, as necessary.

What If The Media Had Treated Obama As Fox JournalistsAug 07, 2015
a different president, America would be far better off. However one feels about the Republican Party, the multitude of candidates for president, and Donald Trump, last night’s debate was an example of how journalism should be practiced. But they were blows based on his own words and history: He started the debate on the defensive over his refusal to rule out ...

TV Longer Than Stand?Nov 16, 2011
I am definitely challenged when it comes to knowing if something looks right.  I'm thinking of getting a new flat screen television and the one I have in mind is about 10 inches longer than the stand I have.  I love my stand and matching tables and want to keep it/them.  I never see TVs longer than stands in ads and in displays.  I don't want to buy it, get it home and set up only to find I really hate it that it is longer than the stand.  Anybody care to offer ...

Obamacare Website No Longer Says "If You Like Your Doctor YouAug 28, 2016
"If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was President Barack Obama's signature catchphrase he used to sell the Affordable Care Act to the American people.
