I'll probably get deleted for this, but I'm going to say it anyway (sm)

Do you people who frequent this politics board know how lucky you are to be able to express your thoughts on politics?  Not mentioning any names of the political MT forum where I usually hang, but if the kind of behavior that went on here, went on over there, there would be no one left to post.  Y'all act like a bunch of babies.  It is possible to disagree without insulting each other left and right just because of what party you are affiliated with, then running to the principal when someone insults you.  I wonder what the average age is here, but I'd be willing to bet it's over 5.  If I was the moderator of this board, I would have already shut it down.  There, I've had my say.

Good post. Being a moderator is a tough job. sm - anon

Been there...done that! I am one of the administrators on a forum (not MT-related, nonprofit) and we actually had to close down our Politics section during the last presidential election because of all the hate. It actually tore our forum apart and we lost a lot of good people due to the bickering and threats and nasty emails from people posting in the politics section. We actually had to permanently ban some of them. Four years later, they are still trying to get back in. It is just nuts out there. Perfectly sane, caring people go crazy when it comes to politics. We all run that forum out of the goodness of our hearts, to help each other, and don't accept any advertising. Didn't need the aggravation, so we just shut down any new posting on our Politics section. Peace everyone!

I agree with above poster - you wrote a good post - anonytoo

As the above poster I too used to be a moderator a long long time ago (seems like centuries). While some people are happy that name calling and stuff is deleted when you actually have to delete a post you get replied with "negativity" to put it mildly.

About 2 years ago or so (after I gave up moderator job) I would get into some heated discussions with another poster. Won't say who was with which side, but boy did we argue. We never once called each other names, told each other their opinion didn't matter, their links were not valid, none of what goes on today.

That is what is great about this country. We do have the freedoms to express how we feel about politics or anything for that matter. There are many countries where you are not allowed to say what you want,so when I read posts here calling people names because they disagree with one of their posts, I think why don't you just move to one of the other countries where differences are not allowed and people can turn in other people and have them arrested and jailed because they shared a difference of opinion. I always think, okay, so you don't want the opposing party to have a say in anything or voice their disagreements, what if it was on the other shoe and was happening to you.

So in amongst the bickering there are some really good posts. Now if posters would just accept that not everyone will always agree and that there are some valid links and articles out there that will not always have the main stream media's logo on the story, but the story is true.

I do have to tell you all a funny story...I read news sites (of which I will not name here because I have in the past and got knocked down for it, I'll just say this site had not come up in months and months). Anyway...when I did post a news story from it I was told that's a conspiracy theory, that website is a blog (which it wasn't), this that this that, you can't trust them, just a lunch of kooks, etc, etc. It got quite nasty I asked the moderator to remove my post. Then about a week or so later the same news story, same words, etc were on CNN and people were posting great things about the story.

So I just hope the newest moderator can get the board back to what it is for. People need to just know that not everyone will always agree with you. Don't mean you are right and they are wrong, it's all perspective. Give the moderators a break too. There are tons of messages to read and they don't get paid.

Above and over all, remember you are lucky to live in a country that allows you the freedom to write or say what you want.

What Will Be Deleted.Oct 27, 2014
After the voting post went bust, I decided to take the best suggestions from those that contributed and that's what we're going with. It seemed pretty unanimous that you have to have a "thick skin" to come to this board and most posters were okay with tpub and commie staying - even though everyone disagrees on the equality of both words.  I'll allow both to stay as long as they're not being used as direct insults to specific posters - those will be deleted, as well as a ...

I Have Deleted The PostAug 31, 2012
Not ONCE since I've come on this board have I hijacked anyone's thread, called anyone names, called any POLITICIAN an unkind name or treated anyone with less than courtesy and respect. I create posts that I think are interesting or will encourage an adult, respectful exchange of information.  And there was certainly nothing in this one to warrant the responses that ensued.  I don't engage in the flaming tactics and I would appreciate it if my posts weren't used for ...

Message DeletedJun 18, 2013
I have just deleted an entire thread of a message talking about hate and racism directed towards one party.  I do not want to believe a poster posted just to get an argument going with name calling of the other side, but that is what the entire thread turned into. Whether or not you agree with the other party, please try and refrain from posting just so people can argue, call others racists, haters, biggots, and try and "teach the other side a lesson". I'm sure I will get a lot of fl ...

Messages Are Being Deleted If They Have Nothing To Do With The DiscussionsMar 05, 2012
If you post a drive by to another poster and are not talking about the subject matter being discussed your post will be removed.  Stop insulting posters because you do not agree with them.  This is not the place for that. Respectfully discuss subject matters being discussed.  Otherwise do not post at all.  Thank you, Moderator ...

I Just Deleted A Post - Wanted To Let You KnowFeb 24, 2013
I wanted to be the first to tell you I just deleted a post per the OPs request.  It was the one of MO dancing on a TV show.  I felt there were a lot of good postives and well thought out replies by posters, but the OP emailed me and requested that it be removed. I just wanted to let you all know I would have left it up, but it was her request for me to remove it.  I did not want anyone to think I was censoring any posts. Thank you, Moderator ...

Has Anyone Here Permanently Deleted Their FB Account?Jan 07, 2015
I'm thinking of deleting my account.  This isn't due to any kind of drama or anything like that.  I only use my facebook to communicate with family and a few friends in other states and to share pictures and updates about our kids and family.  I'm sure part of me will miss that, but I am considering deleting it.  I often go to it expecting to spend 10 minutes at most, and an hour goes by.  Any advice?  Thanks in advance! :) ...

ACA Poll-deleted. Done With This Board Of Opinionated People Dec 10, 2013
Perhaps when they are affected as I have been, they will understand. I know I am in a negative place with it - and I simply was trying to find out others experiences.  I am glad there are positives, I truly am.  My question was not intended to be "loaded" or "cause decisiveness" .... Peace, over and out ... live on thinking you guys know everything.  At least I asked and was willing to consider/believe something different than I feel/think. ...

SHOCK: NSA Can Recover ALL Of Hillary’s Deleted EmailsOct 31, 2016
http://conservativetribune.com/30000-missing-hillary-emails-found/?utm_ The 33,000 emails that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton famously deleted — yes, those emails — aren’t lost at all. They’re right under our noses. Or, better put, up in the “cloud” — and the National Security Agency has been sitting on them the entire time, according to a new story from the International Business Times. Kim Dotcom, the internet entrepreneur known for bypassing NASA and Pentagon ...
