How could Trump forcibly make Mexico pay for a wall?

I cannot imagine they would want to pay for it. If they did build a wall, what good would it do? Didn't this El Chapo guy have a tunnel underneath?

They know when they say these things that they cannot "make" these things happen. But it must get votes. Again, ALL politicians have done this throughout history in every country in every big election. Whichever president you voted for who went on to win, go back and read their campaign promises and compare it to what they really were able to accomplish once in office.

[ In Reply To ..]There are many ways to exert influence. Mexico needs the US far more than the US needs Mexico. Think about it. You might start by turning their produce trucks back at the border, or even by requiring those trucks to meet US highway safety standards before entering the US - which many do not meet now. (In fact, that would make good sense.)
And if you didn't turn the trucks back, you could simply subject them to lengthy border inspections...produce has a short shelf life, and it would unquestionably be a very good thing to know exactly what's coming into this country anyway.
The federal government also has a variety of significant fiscal strings we can pull with respect to Mexico.
Don't think it can't be done, because it probably can be done. However, how effective the wall might be is a more legitimate question, IMHO. It would certainly not be a magic solution to the problem.

Many of them work with false SS#'s here, (the Mexican boss helped them get away with this) and they were not p utting into our economy like our government would like is to believe. So up the charge for wiring money or crossing the border. Many of them go every 2 weeks. This would go a long way toward paying for the wall. If he ever remembers the rest, I'll be back.

I can't really remember the details,and he is outside mowing the lawn, so I will be back as soon as he can refresh my old and tired memory. He worked for a company here in Texas that mostly had illegals working there and some of the tricks they would pull to get extra $$ were unbelievable.
