This is ridiculous. Debt Ceiling: Should the United States of America pay its debts as it agreed to or should they default? Are you kidding me? Should the USA become a deadbeat country? Really?
Each month when I receive my credit card statement, my utility bills, my car loan statement, I don't ask my husband: Should we pay these? We incurred the debt. We are OBLIGATED. We are already driving the car. We have already used the lights, etc.
Congress already voted to spend the money and incurred the debt. Now that the bill is due, they have to consider whether they will honor those commitments? Good grief! Let's get rid of this debt ceiling. Most other countries don't have it.
If the country wants to have a debate about new spending and/or budgets, by all means let's do so. But for goodness sakes, pay the bills you have already incurred and committed to. End of discussion.
