waterboarding - mtor

Waterboarding is peachy keen for enemy combatants and terrorists. Do you have an objection to that? Get the information any way you can is my feeling.

What information.? False confessions and red herrings? - A 4 yo paid price for soldiers EIT lessons.

Christmas Day wannabe bomber taught us something else far more valuable. Using and obeying our own laws and demonstrating integrity and respect for human rights may yield much more useful results. Wondering how much more we could have learned that way over the last 9 years?

Bleeding heart liberal...when the next attack comes don't forget to line the ground with palm fronds and make sure the people perpetrating those attacks are treated with the utmost respect and civility.
A 4 yo got waterboarded by her dad. There are better ways - to teach her ABCs, ya think?...

without trying to torture it out of her and punish her because she did say what he wanted to hear.

Better, smarter ways to secure the country, too. Ways that defuse hatred fueled by torture and hypocrisy, and the calls-to-arms used by terrorists who enlist new recruits. Ways that force us to live up to our ideals and to obey our own laws. Ways that do not dishonor those who lost their lives as collateral damage in the holy culture wars, and do not bring shame to the entire nation.

I do not think America is too wimpy to take the high road on this. The War on Terror is nothing like any other wars the US has ever engaged and won't be won playing by old rules. It's sure seems that whatever we have been doing so far isn't working, or we wouldn't be having this conversation.

New approach, new strategy, new leadership, new day. Nothing to do but buckle your seatbelt and see what happens, so take your "Yay torture" tantrum (waaahhhh) back home. It's almost bedtime.

All I can say to you is you are extremely naive. - BALONEY. nm

No comment whatsoever on the 4 yo and her dad? - What if your child heard this and

asked you why her dad did that? How would you answer to her, and to yourself?
I think this group cares more about children in the womb. - The ones already born are on their own.

He did not waterboard her - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
Nowhere in the Fox article does the word waterboarding come up. And in the US Soldier article it is the writer who is calling this waterboarding. The writer evidently does not know what waterboarding is. This sicko man did not waterboard his 4 year old. He did what is properly called "attempted drowning" and physical and mental abuse. There are many many sick individuals in this world. This is only one story. It breaks my heart to think how many other children are being abused. But what he did is in no way "waterboarding".

I hope he goes to jail for a long time for what he did to her.

And by the way, nobody on this board has ever said that waterboarding is "peachy keen". I'm not in a position, nor are many other people, to be able to determine what ways our military forces are supposed to obtain information from our enemies. I leave that up to the professionals who are trained in that. And waterboarding a child (even though that is not what happened) and waterboarding an adult are two entirely different things.

10 sources, including Veterans News Today, tell - what Fox refused to report....

This is what Fox news and its congregation are trying to trivialize down to a war on semantics instead of engaging in honest reporting and dialog. The idea that even a small portion of our population would be so desensitized to the use of torture ON ANYBODY to the point that they would actually try to deny that this is torture or defend its use IN ANY SETTING is precisely WHY the policy needs to change. At issue here is WHO WE ARE as a nation and what lessons we are teaching our children.

He held her down flat on her back at the kitchen sink and dunked her head under HOT water and held it there until it surrounded her eyes, four separate times, tryng to force her to recite her ABCs, because he KNEW she was afraid of water. This is a 4-year-old. Sounds like torture to me. Second cited source shows a photo of her shortly after the incident. Articles described fresh bruises and scratches on her neck. These donât occur in the absence of brute force.

I want you to answer my question. If your child came to you and asked you why her dad did this to her, would you look him or her in the eye and proceed to lie to his or her face, too? A child afraid of water being held down and dunked under hot water by a dad who knows she is afraid of water is PREMEDITATED torture. No 2 ways about it, ad no amount of hair splitting and word mincing is going to change that.

Massachusetts Could Elect Senator Who Supports WaterboardingJan 19, 2010
By John ByrneMonday, January 18th, 2010 -- 9:16 am The Republican state senator vying to fill the Senate seat recently vacated by the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) says he doesn't believe waterboarding -- where a suspect is effectively temporarily drowned -- is torture. Until recently, Democratic state attorney Martha Coakley was considered a shoe-in for the position. But Massach ...

President Obama Apologizes To Family Of Fallen SoldierJun 25, 2011
I'm waiting for the apology to the nation for the total ineptness of this witless wonder. Is game 74 of golf on his agenda today?   President Obama today apologized to the family of a Medal of Honor recipient whom he erroneously said was still alive. On Thursday at Fort Drum, the president told troops from the 10th Mountain Division that he previously "had the great honor of seeing some of you because a comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award th ...

When The Army Uses "Enhanced Interrogation" On An American SoldierApr 14, 2010
Joshua Kors, Investigative Reporter for The Nation   I had been covering veterans' issues for several years and thought I'd developed a thick skin. But the pain on the other end of the telephone line was difficult to stomach. Sergeant Chuck Luther, now back from Iraq, was describing his journey to hell and back. The worst part, he said, wasn't battling insurgents or even the mortar blast that tossed him to the ground and slammed his head against the concrete — it was ...
