Soldier son

Posted: Mar 31, 2014

My son has just left for basic combat training in Oklahoma. It's going to be a real culture shock for him.  Please keep him in your prayers.  My other son has been through this and served in Afghanistan.  Being an Army mom is also a hard job.

I am sending lots of hugs to you. Yes, being a Soldier's Mom is rough especially now. So glad to hear your son has returned from Afghanistan. I am an Gold Star Mother, lost my oldest son in Iraq in 2003. Give both of your sons big thank-you hugs!!!

Two Army, 1 USMC. My daughter made Staff Sgt and was on Gitmo in charge of the detainees! She was in 10 years. My youngest was in Operation Iraqi Freedom and it took him quite a while to make the transition once he got home. My eldest was only in the Army for a short stint, he didn't get to serve overseas. God Bless our young people - I firmly believe that all who graduate high school should have to serve 2 years in the military just for the discipline factor alone - there are few who really know what they want to do at the moment they get out of school....just my 2 cents. :)

President Obama Apologizes To Family Of Fallen SoldierJun 25, 2011
I'm waiting for the apology to the nation for the total ineptness of this witless wonder. Is game 74 of golf on his agenda today?   President Obama today apologized to the family of a Medal of Honor recipient whom he erroneously said was still alive. On Thursday at Fort Drum, the president told troops from the 10th Mountain Division that he previously "had the great honor of seeing some of you because a comrade of yours, Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award th ...

When The Army Uses "Enhanced Interrogation" On An American SoldierApr 14, 2010
Joshua Kors, Investigative Reporter for The Nation   I had been covering veterans' issues for several years and thought I'd developed a thick skin. But the pain on the other end of the telephone line was difficult to stomach. Sergeant Chuck Luther, now back from Iraq, was describing his journey to hell and back. The worst part, he said, wasn't battling insurgents or even the mortar blast that tossed him to the ground and slammed his head against the concrete — it was ...
