Fellow progressives - does it

Posted: May 16, 2012

that the subjects here that draw the most responses are gossip girl subjects and no one seems the least bit interested in the inevitability of the collapse of the financial system if we continue on the same path?

;

in a word: - yes

[ In Reply To ..]
on top of it, I hesitate to post at all anymore, since apparently it's "not okay" to respond to certain posts.

For example, there are some posters who like to say that the president is a communist. Yet, when I respond that people who actually live in totalitarian regimes laugh at that notion, my post gets deleted! What's that about?

obviously about - the

[ In Reply To ..]
bias of the editors. I get deleted all the time for things that are not "relevant to politics" yet personal attacks from BWAHAHA stay up.

If posters stuck to facts, ditched the insults, stopped stalking - no reason for posts to be deleted

You can go down thread now and find posts on here that refuse to address the post or issue, but put up some asnine comment about how a poster should be in a "hyperbolic chamber". Sure they thought they were amusing, but apparently they're the only one. No wonder moderator eliminates posts. What does that contribute...nothing, yet posted to inflame and insult, then POd when moderator caught on.

Then you got those that carry on because there was no post or source, or link; yet, when links, posts, sources are posted, those same posters carry on because they now don't like the source or the post, or want sources only from the ones they want to use and discard everyone elses. Then they start with the insults because of a dfifferent POV. It makes intelligent conversation difficult. Seems like an intelligent conversation can only occur between a few posters, the rest not so much.

BTW - The Bwhahaha poster you mentioned was a lib that started that back about 6 weeks ago to slam a republican/conservative post as an insult. Guess they got caught in their own web.
No reason for deletions if post not meant to flame - If deleted, deserved it. - nm

Sorry, but you're wrong. Why, right below us is a post declaring that Bristol Palin - and the poster - laugh at us. Yet, that post remains, and it is absolutely stupid and insulting.

It certainly has less to do with politics than my own post concerning people who actually LIVE under communism.

I am the poster who used the term "hyperbolic chamber". And I will use it again when any poster (from either side of the aisle) posts spurious nonsense and cannot stick with the truth - or the subject matter.

I hear you and agree - yes

I do not remove posts simply for having a difference of opinion - Moderator

[ In Reply To ..]
The posts I have been deleting have had attacks against other posters, which I am trying to stop. If posters stick to the topics at hand their posts are not deleted. If they go after other posters, or use really inflammatory language towards a politician I will edit the offensive word out. I simply do not delete posts because of someone's opinion.

Moderator.

Glad to see, just saw one where - OP called someone genius/Sherlock

[ In Reply To ..]
was rude and when poster fought back, OP got the "Oh, who me - why so angry?" routine going, but thought insults she wrote were okay. Go figure that mentality!!
did you pause to think... - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
that perhaps there was some mistaken identity going on? I can't tell you how many times I have been assailed because some poster assumed I was the target of their wrath. Someone below just addressed me as "Sherlock", and I can assure you, I was not a part of the thread you reference.
Did you pause to think - Post was very specific
[ In Reply To ..]
about the person doing the namecalling and insulting and entire thread reported to Moderator. The Moderator is not stupid. If it was not you, they can tell by your email. If it was you, they can tell my your email. Lots of people are accused of a lot of things on this board by a few. If you don't answer any of the posts with insults and names, you got nothing to worryy about.

In a society where people can name the all the contestants on Dancing with the Stars yet cannot name the Supreme Court Justices...does it surprise me, no. Does it worry me, yes. I could not get one reply on my post regarding Ex-Im, an issue very important to this country at a time when US manufacturing is so low and hurting this country.

Now just to be clear I am not knocking anyone for watching Dancing with the Stars, we all need down time from the rat race...but for pete's sake this is important!!

not a progressive but totally agree with your point - anon

Honestly, I didn't respond because I hadn't heard about it. I meant to do some research and post my thoughts, but I got slammed with extra work (not complaining!) and didn't finish my research. I didn't want to leave an opinion on something I didn't know about. I do think it's important and I also agree that the collapse is inevitable - that worries me. I'll probably be able to get back to it tomorrow, but I'm sure the post will be buried by then.

Any Fellow MTs With Scoliosis?Jan 21, 2012
Any tips for dealing with the constant pain?  Sometimes it isn't so back and is just a dull ache, other times it is a nightmare and I end up not being able to sit, stand or lie down without hurting.  The only way I get sleep on the bad days is to take 200mg of trazodone and it doesn't even knock me out like the doctor said that amount should.  I still sleep so light that the slightest noise wakes me up.  I hate having to take that much, but sometimes you have to do ...

I am writing this to hopefully prevent someone else from feeling the pain that I feel or your beloved pet from suffering unnecessarily.  My 8-year-old golden retriever became ill this past week.  I googled her symptoms and it led me to a condition called pyometra which I had never heard of.  She didn't quite fit the criteria for that so I assumed she had a stomach virus.  I tried to make her comfortable and take care of her myself but she wasn't getting any better.& ...

Don't know if any of you have ever watched the "Morning Meeting" with Dylan Rattigan on MSNBC (9:00 a.m. Eastern time), but I would highly suggest watching it.  He is very angry about what's going on in the economy (from banks "too big to fail" to the "public option"), but instead of bashing Obama, he refers to the culprit as "the government," since we all know when this really started and how many administrations are really involved.  Rattigan used to be on CNBC but is now o ...
