Downtrodden? About to be unemployed?

If you need to apply for unemployment in Wisconsin, you have to now pass a drug test--even though you have earned those benefits.
This is thanks to former Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker and Republican controlled state legislature. Thanks be to the higher powers that made him come to his senses and realize he was not presidential material. Can you imagine how he would have set the entire country back? Makes me sick to my stomach.

It does not make a lot of sense to me. I used to work in a construction based company that would shut down in the winter. It is a standard practice in our northern states that when you are unemployed for "the season" you draw unemployment for the 3 months or so when you cannot do your job because of the weather. Now all of these employees will be subjected to the indignity of having to pee in a cup.

When the Republicans say they want the minimum wage eliminated, are they ever asked about the taxpayer subsidies to the workers who need government assistance just to eat? Talk about a disconnect with the people.

It was only 9.7% in May 2009, and in December, it was 10.9. This doesn't include those who ran out of benefits. I just can't imagine how many are really out of work here.
