The only night scheduled to be outside in the stadium - was Thursday, all other nights inside. nm

Was the convention last night not held outside? If not, where was it held? The Time Warner arena only holds around 20,000, and I thought the news said the attendance was much more than that. The Bank of America stadium is an outdoor facility.

it was only the Thursday night acceptance speech schedule that was originally planned for BofA outdoor venue to allow for expanded public attendance participation.

They canceled the stadium (as reported on CNN, others). - Could not avoid the specter of empty seats.

This will go down as one of the worst Democratic conventions in history. Having to bus people in, give away tickets to Obama's speech in bars (!), and generally concoct the appearance that there are more than six people in the universe who give a rip about the convention.

was to leave 5,000 seats empty, I think due to security and safety reasons on account of the media presence, equipment mobility, etc. Ticket sales and projected attendance figures indicate the DNC was within 1,000 of their 65,000 goal, meaning that the change of venue is going to disappoint 10s of thousands of folks from all over the place.

it just so happens that lightening is attracted to electricity, and electronics such as IPods, TVs, computers, electrical wires and outlets, microphones, metal, and folks standing in water....anything it can find in it's search for a pathway of least resistance. Got it?

to drive over to Charlotte to attend have had to cancel now that it's inside. I had been hoping time would allow us to join them, although probably not. The reasons for changing, whatever they might all be, do not include that the stadium would be empty. This is a big party, and I would have loved to be there.

at the INDOOR event, for fear of all the no shows when Isaac was threatening to make its appearance? Folks don't usually show up at outdoor events in pouring down rain where umbrellas are prohibited. That's why outdoor stadium sports events often get rescheduled.

However, it's a different story for indoor happenings where they can use protective gear while in transit, then get in and out of their cars parked in covered facilities or are being bused and dropped off at the covered entrance to the facility. BTW, for those who don't live in hurricane zones, right or wrong, many rugged individualist, CE macho, bootstrap bravado types have been known to scoff at the notion of a measly tropical or cat 1 storm interrupting their plans and, in fact, often use it as an excuse to get down for their time-honored hurricane party traditions.

PS: Please don't try to float the notion that the GOP was looking after the safety of their supporters while the DNC was consumed with image optics. It. Won't. Wash.

Like it or don't, Barack Obama is the president of the United States. If that bothers you, take your energy and put it into Romney's campaign if that's what floats your boat. Someone posted earlier that the forecast for Charlotte is the same as it was for Wednesday. First, don't jump on me because I don't really care about the location change or why it was made, but Juan Williams stated last night on Fox news that it was indeed because they could not be sure of getting enough people to fill the stadium. I don't think that necessarily means there were not enough people wanting to attend, but some people were probably backing out themselves because of the possibility of bad weather, the travel, and maybe just in general for one reason ...

It's being put on by the local community theater and she won the part of Charlotte. This is the first time she has tried out for a play and her first role. So, as per my somewhat routine insomnia, I got no sleep last night. I went to lie down this morning and heard my husband get in his car. Then I heard him get stuck. It took both of us at 5:30 a.m. almost 40 minutes to shovel all the snow and get his car out of the driveway. Then, he got stuck at the bottom of the street. We live in a very hot environment and have no air conditioning, so it gets extremely hot in our house. I'm trying to get some lunch ideas that don't involve turning the stove or oven on at all, but my husband is extremely picky and I am not creative at all when it comes to food. It's been raining off and on all day and probably one of the last nights of "winter" type weather we'll have.
