Bad Weather

Hope you all made it through the terrible weather yesterday in the southeastern part of the country, and northeastern states. What a night! Our local TV station said there was definite possibility of a tornado in West York. I live in the northwest part of York, PA.

About 8:15 things changed dramatically. I ran from the livingroom into the bathroom, and I literally covered my head with pillows. I live in an apartment and have the second and third floors. The wind, which was just terrible all day got drastically worse. I could feel shaking, and my lights went out. Later I found out that part of the roof of the West Manchester Mall blew off. I live about 3/4 mile from the mall. They had evacuated the shoppers at 8:00 p.m. and nobody was hurt. They said glass blew to the other side of the parking lot. They have not said it, indeed was a tornado, but very, very high winds that upset tractor trailers, etc. My heart goes out to all in Alabama, virginia, North Carolina, etc. Hope you are all safe.

Yesterday they announced on our local TV station that it was, indeed a tornado in my area. My friends got a laugh out of the pillows on my head, but I wanted to avoid flying glass, etc. I heard about people surviving before by putting a mattress over their body. Stay safe!

Someone posted earlier that the forecast for Charlotte is the same as it was for Wednesday. They said the reason the venue of the President's speech was changed for Thursday was because they could not get enough people to fill up the 65,000 seats in the Bank of America Stadium. So, as per my somewhat routine insomnia, I got no sleep last night. I went to lie down this morning and heard my husband get in his car. Then I heard him get stuck. It took both of us at 5:30 a.m. almost 40 minutes to shovel all the snow and get his car out of the driveway. Then, he got stuck at the bottom of the street. Thankfully, a very nice neighbor heard him and came up with his plow, got him unstuck, and plowed the way for him all the way to the main road ...

We have a family reunion this weekend which is about an hour away from home. We're supposed to bring a dish to pass. It's supposed to be over 90 degrees on Saturday, so I need something that will travel well and be a good hot weather dish. I believe they will be cooking out burgers, brats, etc. for the main dish. Anybody got anything that they use that people just love? I'd love some suggestions. ...

I went to a newly opened Shell station to get a half tank of gas. As soon as my pre-purchased card cleared to begin the transaction, a video monitoring changed from showing a still picture of something you could buy inside to a recent news blurb of local events, followed by a three day forecast of weather in my area, a commercial inviting me to buy Snickers by running inside, finally followed by a Fox sports cast, all timed perfectly from the start of the transaction to the last 30 seconds ...

Oohhhhh..... The weather outside is frightful, but this fire's so delightful. With 3 hours of work to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Audience applauding....OMG!!!! A standing ovation......(me) Thank you, thank you...you're too kind....thank you. Curtain closes. One good thing about working at home, there's a lot of room for creativity to get the job done. We live in a very hot environment and have no air conditioning, so it gets extremely hot in our house. I'm trying to get some lunch ideas that don't involve turning the stove or oven on at all, but my husband is extremely picky and I am not creative at all when it comes to food. I've done lunchmeat/cold cuts, but he will only eat that every once in a while or else he says I'm giving him gout. He doesn't like chicken salad or egg salad or anything like that. No se ...

It's been raining off and on all day and probably one of the last nights of "winter" type weather we'll have. My husband is in the kitchen making homemade albondigas and tortillas, which we love on nights like this. Does anyone else have a cold/rainy weather favorite food? I hope this rain lasts for a couple of days...it's so relaxing :-) ...
