CURRENT U.S. foreign policy proposal

Posted: Oct 29, 2009

It's been on CNN.com for at least a day - how many hear have heard or read about this:

U.S. set to pay Taliban members to switch sides

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/10/28/afghanistan.taliban.pay/index.html

This is nothing new - We bring in suitcases full of cash to get what we want - the problem is it usually backfires because we are 'buying' temporary loyalty.

When you hear me gripe here on the board about lousy U.S. policy, here's an example of it:  Using YOUR tax dollars to buy temporary loyalty from the Taliban in the fight against al Queda - when we KNOW the Taliban and AlQueda are working together.

Sure.  That'll work.

;

That's not the only thing that's been bought...(sm) - Just the big bad

Foreign PolicySep 18, 2012
Does anyone really believe that Obama's foreign policy is working?  How can anyone argue that, in the last 3-1/2 years, things have gotten better in the Middle East?  I think the era of pandering is over since that was a huge failure.  Let's try something else, shall we?      ...

Question: Since When Does Foreign Policy Mar 03, 2015
"run through the Executive Branch?" This is what Obama stated today in his press conference after Netanyahu's speech.Since when it is ONLY the President who makes decisions on foreign policy? Hasn't it always been Congress to decide and isn't it their job to decide funding, arms, or anything else with regard for foreign policy? This is the impression I got on that statement. Is he now planning to take over that part of congressional policy for more power?BTW, he stated he did ...

Romneys Foreign Policy And Influence Sep 11, 2012
President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday that a comment made by U.S. presidential candidate Mitt Romney has made Russia feel justified in opposing America’s missile defense plans in Europe. Romney has branded Russia the “No. 1 geopolitical foe” of the United States. Putin said in remarks carried by Russian news wires that Romney’s statement has “strengthened Russia’s positions in talks on this important and sensitive subject.” ...

A Reminder On Foreign Policy And Obama.Oct 23, 2012
Remember 2008? One of Obama's weak points was foreign policy....he had NO experience in foreign policy. A lot of people don't want to vote for Romney because he doesn't have any foreign policy experience. To those people, I would love to know why they would vote for a candidate that had no foreign policy experience one year and four years later refuse to vote for someone because they don't have any foreign policy experience? Doesn't make sense to me. This post really d ...

Tools Of Foreign Policy. Short, Simple. Read And The LastSep 10, 2013

Obama Has Not Right To Tell Scott Walker To Bone Up On Foreign PolicyApr 08, 2015
He hasn't done a good job at foreign policy himself. In response to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s criticism of his Iran policy, President Obama suggested that the presumed candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination “bone up on foreign policy.”   In other words, anyone who disagrees with the president on Iran’s nuclear program, or any other national security issue, is just not knowledgeable enough to understand. Of course, there is a very ...

Salt Lake City Tribune: Obama’s Foreign Policy Record Is Perhaps His Strongest Suit, EspeciaOct 22, 2012
Excerpt from the SLC Tribune's endorsement of President Obama for reelection: "Obama’s foreign policy record is perhaps his strongest suit, especially compared to Romney’s bellicose posture toward Russia and China and his inflammatory rhetoric regarding Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Obama’s measured reliance on tough economic embargoes to bring Iran to heel, and his equally measured disengagement from the war in Afghanistan, are examples of a nuanced approach to i ...

Paul Ryan - GOP Budget ProposalFeb 12, 2010
Cut Medicare and privatize Social Security. That's what the republicans presented. Let's hope we don't hear any more screaming about rationing health care under Obama, because that's what the republicans want, not the dems. I am amazed that they are not just sticking to NO. Whenever they come up with a proposal, it hits the fan. Like this tired attempt to do Medicare and Social Security in.  The good news is that there are a fair number of older people who are republi ...

White House Proposal Will Ease FBI Acess Jul 30, 2010
Everyone screamed about Bush's Patriot Act... Read this: The Obama administration is seeking to make it easier for the FBI to compel companies to turn over records of an individual's Internet activity without a court order if agents deem the information relevant to a terrorism or intelligence investigation. A Conservative Amnesty: A Proposal That Will End Illegal ImmigrationDec 04, 2014
By Richard Kelsey  December 3, 2014 Just the word amnesty fires me up.  The thought of rewarding criminal behavior is abhorrent to me.  When light-weight, pro-amnesty politicians hump “comprehensive immigration reform,” they are talking about amnesty.  I have been in the fight against illegal immigration for more than two decades.  I grew up in a small New Jersey town over-run by illegal aliens.  I saw town officials take advice from federal a ...

Donald Trump's Proposal On Stopping Muslims Entering The USA?May 28, 2016
He said there should be a "total and complete" shutdown of the country's borders to Muslims, "Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life." 'Death Panels' Debate Returns To Congress: Congressman Building Support For Proposal Apr 29, 2010
The House health care provision that Sarah Palin warned would lead to "death panels" never made it into the final bill, but its backers plan to resuscitate it. Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.), who shepherded the amendment through the Ways and Means Committee, is building House support for stand-alone passage of the legislation that would allow Medicare to reimburse health care providers for consulting with patients about end-of-life decisions. Palin's charge that the effort amounted to a "d ...

Sanders’ Spending Proposal Matches Size Of National Debt, $18 Trillion, In 10 YearsOct 04, 2015
Presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), a self-identified socialist, is proposing the largest peacetime expansion of government in history, backing $18 trillion in spending in one decade, according to a tally by the Wall Street Journal. According to the U.S. Treasury, our current total public debt, including both debt held by the public and intragovernmental holdings, exceeds $18 trillion. Sanders’ new expenditures would match this amount in 10 years. Sanders would dedicate ...

Current Pipelines In The USNov 20, 2014
Of interest to those who oppose the Keystone - there are already millions of miles of pipeline in the US from one end to the other.  I have a link to a page that shows maps - the most interesting one is which states rely on natural gas the most.  People in those states probably don't even realize where their natural gas comes from.
