The Insiders: Democrats are trying to suppress the confusion and hide the cost of ObamaCare

Some quotes:

The rolling thunder of the approaching ObamaCare train can be heard in the distance.

Smart Democrats are beginning to get frantic about the need to suppress the confusion and hide the cost of ObamaCare between now and the 2014 midterm elections.

We are just three months away from the October 1st enrollment start date and so far, nothing about the ObamaCare implementation process should be politically encouraging for Democrats.  In fact, the more people learn about ObamaCare, the more frightened they become.

Right now, small businesses across America are making the final determinations on how to reduce the working hours of their employees so fewer employees qualify for the mandated, employer-provided health insurance.

What this means is that hundreds of thousands – and perhaps even millions – of Americans will learn that they are being dismissed from their employer’s healthcare coverage.

In many cases, people will be facing increased health insurance costs, particularly if they are young and healthy.

The negative effects on personal income and the overall economy will be undeniable.

The consequences of ObamaCare are being hidden.

At some point soon, it’s going to be undeniable that ObamaCare is nothing but another federal entitlement, where those who are young and healthy bear the direct cost of subsidizing those who are not.

In midterm elections, those who vote tend to be more engaged voters. In other words, these voters will notice if they have health insurance that is more expensive but offers less coverage than what they had before ObamaCare.

Some of the Democrats’ reactions will be predictable, i.e. blaming Bush and blaming Republicans, or for a while, denying the obvious. But that won’t work forever.

There is no chance that Obamacare will perform as promised and when it doesn’t, voters will be looking for relief.

Low caliber speculative opinion piece - void of factual content.

We've beaten this dead horse enough by now. It's the law. It's going to happen. Get over it.

PS. My favorite entry from the comments section: "Number of countries who have universal healthcare and whose people are rioting in the streets to have it taken away: 0"

Actually the article is truthful and factual. - again - just because you dont like it

[ In Reply To ..]
doesn't mean its true.

True its signed into law. Nothing to get over. Doesn't mean its a good thing no matter how in love you are with Obama.

Stop telling people to "get over it" when there is nothing to get over.

It's a factual article that's all. YOU get over it.

As you say, stop telling people to get over it when there's - nothing to get over.

It's just another vacuous opinion piece promoted by a bunch of hyperbolic drama queens. Dems are not "frantic." They are not trying to suppress or hide anything. Obamacare only frightens cons, determined to be frightened and to frighten others. Millions to be laid off? Typically preposterous and worthy of ridicule.

Viable political rhetoric cannot be gleaned from partisans trying to predict the future, especially in the absence of hard data and historical facts that somehow support their spurious claims.

truthful and factual - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
it's hard to know what you regard as truthful and factual when you use phrases like "no matter how in love you are with Obama."

whether I like it or not, it's still an opinion piece - end of story

there's nothing wrong with an opinion piece, but "liking it" doesn't mean it's fact, either.

The Obama administration’s move to delay until 2015 a requirement that employers offer health insurance or else face stiff penalties is yet another indication that the embattled law is a failure and should be repealed, Republicans and conservatives said on Tuesday.

"The president's healthcare law is already raising costs and costing jobs,” House Speaker John Boehner said. “This announcement means even the Obama administration knows the ‘train wreck’ will only get worse.

Do Nothing Boehner - Chavera

What a joke! Mr. Can't Control His Own Caucus saying the healthcare law is costing jobs. The republicants are costing jobs by sitting on their hands and pandering to their ignorant self righteous base and refusing to pass the jobs bill or any kind of budget! Hopefully enough people are paying attention to what is REALLY going on in Washington and will vote the republicans OUT!

It's a known fact and it's been proven over and over again that HARRY REID TABLED 27 jobs bills brought to the Senate by the House.

Tabled, FYI, means that he trashed every single House jobs bills. Look them up.

We don't need a tyrant running the Senate. We need someone who's going to look at a bill with fairness. Harry Reid has stated time and time again that he would not even allow discussion or debate on anything House Republicans send over.

Where shall we start? Filibusters? Poison pills? The GOP's repeated refusals to give Obama any victories — even on issues they have supported in the past? Shielding millionaires from tax hikes with the Norquist pledge that forbid raising any revenues to finance the measures? I'm game if you are.

Yep, prime examples of being void of - factual content.

That is too kind of a way to describe the "suppress and hide costs" falsehood. As we can see, the obstructionists are in high gear and will be in overdrive by the time October rolls around. These prognostications of doom before the measure has even taken effect, let alone had a decent amount of time for a trial run, are getting downright annoying.

Can't believe the posters don't believe this. Here's another piece of news. - Truthhurts

In other words, employers with over 50 employees don't have to implement Obamacare until AFTER the 2014 elections (in 2015).. Guess they figure it worked to keep other things under wrap until after 2012 elections, this will help, too.

Oh, BTW, this DOES NOT APPLY to people with private insurance or those who work for an employer with LESS than 50 employees. They still have to comply by 2014.

One more thing ....even the democrats are coming out and speaking about the costs of this mandate being twice to 3 times higher than "expected." Guess they're finally reading the bill and finding out what's really in it.

WASHINGTON — Implementation of the employer health-care mandate, one of the most vaunted provisions in President Obama’s health care law, will be put off for a full year, the administration said today.
In passing the Affordable Care Act, Democrats included — and promoted — the requirement that companies with 50 or more employees will have to provide health coverage to their employees, or face fines. That was supposed to begin in 2014, but the U.S. Treasury announced today that the requirement won’t be implemented until 2015.
Assistant Treasury Secretary for Tax Policy Mark Mazur wrote today on the Treasury’s website:
The Administration is announcing that it will provide an additional year before the ACA mandatory employer and insurer reporting requirements begin. This is designed to meet two goals. First, it will allow us to consider ways to simplify the new reporting requirements consistent with the law. Second, it will provide time to adapt health coverage and reporting systems while employers are moving toward making health coverage affordable and accessible for their employees. Within the next week, we will publish formal guidance describing this transition. Just like the Administration’s effort to turn the initial 21-page application for health insurance into a three-page application, we are working hard to adapt and to be flexible about reporting requirements as we implement the law.

different articles that actually DO contain a few facts, since the WaPo opinion piece produced none from which you could make an argument.

Businesses with more than 50 employees (who would be moaning about having to insure their workers no matter what) are the ones who have been complaining about how "complicated" Obamacare is. Never mind they have had 3 years to become familiar with what will be required of them. OK, so now we have yet another concession to them with this one-year delay and, not surprisingly, we also have the cons trying to transform that concession into another divisive political ploy and relate it to the 2014 elections. This is really an impossible argument to make, since the measure was originally set to take effect BEFORE the mid-terms. If anyone is trying to shuck and jive here, it would be these businesses who will go down kicking and screaming behind having to provide medical insurance for the folks who produce billions of profits for them every year.

Evidently you're not buying that "suppress and hide" - thing either

"...even the democrats are coming out and speaking about the costs of this mandate."

Last week I was told I didn't "need to be sarcastic" to make a point. I might observe the same thing about the digs you seem to so relish: "Guess they're finally reading the bill and finding out what's really in it."

That wasn't a dig. It was the truth. Congress didn't read the bill before it passed. - Truthhurts

[ In Reply To ..]
Are you now going to tell me that those who passed Obamacare read the whole bill? You can't, because they didn't, unless they were speed readers. They had LESS than 24 hours to read the darn thing and make their decision.

I would never assume I know what they do or do not read - but
[ In Reply To ..]
what I do know is that they debated the measure for 13 months, so one might conclude that, unless they were brain dead, they would have been intimately familiar with the evolution of contents by the time it went to print and were probably able to recite lengthy word-for-word passages from it in their sleep. It is absurd to suggest ACA was some sort of spur-of-the-moment coup. Absurd, in case you didn't hear me the first time.

The article the OP posted said "Smart Democrats are beginning to get frantic about the need to suppress the confusion and hide the cost of ObamaCare between now and the 2014 midterm elections." That is a true statement. That is what is meant by suppress and hide. Just a fact that is happening.

There was nothing sarcastic about her comment. That is her right to post here. She didn't insult anyone on this board. So what that you were told you didn't need to be sarcastic. She can post whatever she wants to and there was nothing sarcastic about what she posted. They are not "digs". They are facts.

Nancy Peelousy is the one who stated they have to pass the bill before they know what's in it. Her statement explained just that - guess they're finally reading te bill and finding out what's really in it. There is nothing wrong or sarcastic about it.
What does Peelousy mean, anyway - sm

The poster you're responding to just expressed her opinion. It's really not a big deal.

I happened to see the post last week where she was accused of being sarcastic. If I were in her shoes, I might want to give a little heads-up to my accuser regarding the use of sarcasm. ;)
so many generals - so little time 2
[ In Reply To ..]
Don't know what drill sargeants have to do with what was written. Is that like puppy dogs, fairy tales, and Candy Land?

Sarcasm is written all over her post "evidently your not buying" "last week I was told" "I might observe the same digs you seem to relish"

So she expressed her opinion. I expressed mine. As you say..."it's really not a big deal". I wrote my opinion that that is not what I took away from the post that was written. So what if someone was accused of being sarcastic. Is this now some kind of payback. Just who is the "accuser" you feel she needs to "give a little heads up" to? The post she replied to accusing them of sarcasm had absolutely NO sarcasm in it. It was out of context for what was written.

If someone wants to pull the "I'm gonna get you" card at least it should fit the post they are doing it to. However, in reality nobody should be playing the payback game.

Her post was uncalled for, and that's my opinion, which per your post is okay for us to express our opinions. "not a big deal".
