paralyzed muscles

All my brain MRI's show white matter lesions of a nonspecific demyelinating disease  The neuros said this is normal for age?  Has anyone ever heard of this being normal?  I passed my swallow test so the last neuro ruled out MS.  I guess this is failed neck surgery but my head is completely numb which does not really correlate with my neck as we all know the cranial nerves are in our brains.  This is just crazy!  I am just miserable and am afraid that DVTs might be setting in from the paralysis.. Could I have had Guallain-Barre all this time?  Doesn't it come on quickly like in days and then you are completely paralyzed?  That is what I have read. My condition started about a year and a half ago.  I am so frustrated and scared. I am wondering if a MS lesion is in my neck where the hardware is they cannot see.  Isn't that possible?  The last neuro won't do any more followup.  Thanks for any input.

I don't think the doctors would have any reason to lie to you, so if they said it is normal, it must be. Take aspirin if you are afraid of a DVT. I hope you feel better soon.

No was tested for that. The neuros have been mean because I am an MT and ask a lot of questions and ask them if it could be this or that. They want a dumb patient. Ha. Thanks for your prayers.

I have read - long time CMA

that with aging you can develop nonspecific demyelinating white matter lesions on the brain. How many neurologists have you seen? Have you gone back to the surgeon who did the neck surgery for follow up? Where is the paralysis? DVTs could develop with nonuse of an extremity. You should check with your primary care physician to see if you can go on an aspirin daily to prevent DVTs but I would think that one of the other doctors would have started you on this or even Lovenox or Coumadin if there was real concern for DVTs if you have had this condition for a year and a half.

I have seen 3 neuros who are clueless, think it is my neck or guess and have been very mean. The neurosurgeon who did the surgery does not answer my calls, great huh? My numbness is in my entire head, face and down my entire spine. It has destroyed my orbicularis oculi muscles on both sides and distorted my face. I have severe conjunctivitis from facial nerve dysfunction and blurry vision. Thought I had optic neuritis and went to the eye doc 3 times. They thought I had MS from the twitching. I can hardly hold my head up. I had a head biopsy that showed some type of autoimmune disorder. I have a negative Lyme test, negative ANA. My nerves in my face are gone and I cannot feel my lips, tongue or gums.

has anyone suggested that you see a - anon

psychiatrist? It sounds like you have a lot of anxiety and this might be making your symptoms worse. Talking to someone about all that is going on might be a good start to help you. I sure hope you find the answers you are looking for. Will pray for you.

This is not a psychiatric condition. I have talked to some therapists who think I should go to the Mayo Clinic but I cannot afford that. Thanks for your prayers.

Yes, I have many white matter lesions, nonspecific. I am 47. - sm

Have been told by two different doctors that this is normal and nothing to worry about. I put it out of my mind.

I am not, however, experiencing the symptoms you describe.

I am sure this is failed cervical spine surgery all levels.  They cannot find anything else but won't admit that is what it is especially the surgeon who did it.  Thanks for all your help and ideas.  ...

Well I had a video swallow today that was normal.  I wonder if that means I don't have MS?  I do, however, have decreased arm and leg reflexes and white matter lesions on my brain.  I am so scared with no answer and in horrifying pain in my head from occipital and trigeminal neuralgia. ...

Ok now I am so paralyzed when I stick my tongue out it jerks rapidly by itself.  Went to the ER yesterday and they thought it might be myasthenia gravis  or Guallain-Barre and sent me home?  I have yet to see another neuro but I think my time is about up.  This is really scaring me now. ...

This illness has permanently deformed my face. Can you believe it?  The neuros that saw me are trying to blow this off as a "conversion disorder" when I know it is Guallain-Barre.  That is the only thing that can paralyze your spine and facial muscles as I do not have MS or ALS to my knowledge. I could die from this as all my facial muscles are paralyzed. I can barely eat.   I am going to see yet a 4th neuro and when I get this diagnosed I am filing a mult ...

Would you please pray for me.  All my muscles are paralyzed from head to toe incuding face.  Neurologists do not know what it is and do not care. I know this has to be Guallain-Barre syndrome but the doctors I have seen will not do a spinal tap as I still have leg reflexes except when I lay down.  All my skin is peeling off too like a snake even my moles.  I read somewhere this can happen.  I am so scared for my job and my life and still trying to work like this.&nb ...
