paralyzed muscles

Posted: Jan 3, 2011

Well I had a video swallow today that was normal.  I wonder if that means I don't have MS?  I do, however, have decreased arm and leg reflexes and white matter lesions on my brain.  I am so scared with no answer and in horrifying pain in my head from occipital and trigeminal neuralgia.

Are you by any chance taking statins for cholesterol? (sm) - Yochana

Duane Graveline is a retired family doctor who developed transient global amnesia after taking 1 dose of Lipitor. Being a doctor he started studying exactly how statins work in the body and has backed up his theory with scientific proof that in some people statins can actually destroy your body, cause cognitive impairment liver inflammation, myopathy and its more serious form rhabdomyopathy with muscle ache, pain, sensitivity and soreness anywhere in the body, neuropathy, including personality change, myopathy, chronic neuromuscular degeneration similar to ALS,cognitive dysfunction and a host of other illnesses. It turned him from a healthy mountain climbing man to a man on a walker.

Not taking statins - Mary

No not taking statins. I think this is failed neck surgery, going quadriplegic here and in tears and praying to die. I can barely hold my neck up and feel there are clots forming in my spine, been to about 10 ERs in the last 6 months with no help. They will not do any more surgery on me and the surgeon who did not will not return my calls. I had a C3-6 laminectomy in 2002 for spinal stenosis. My MRI does not show spinal cord compression but they cannot see it well due to the hardware. I am on some pain meds but not working too well. I hear things snapping in my skull which is completely numb. I need to be admitted and given immediate disability before I stroke out here.

are they giving you anything for pain? - long time CMA

for trigeminal neuralgia you can take Doxepin for the pain and I am sure there are other meds for it, maybe even Lyrica or gabapentin.

What does your neurologist say about the possiblity of MS? I think problems with swallowing is more common in later stages of MS, but not 100% sure, so maybe that is a good thing it is normal.

The neuro will not run any more tests. I had a SSEP but it was inconclusive as I could not tolerate the high voltage and he will not repeat it. None of the docs care about me enough to readmit me and find out what this is. Most of them felt it was my neck. The TN has turned into complete destruction of my facial nerve. I can barely walk, talk or anything with no help.

I am sure this is failed cervical spine surgery all levels.  They cannot find anything else but won't admit that is what it is especially the surgeon who did it.  Thanks for all your help and ideas.  ...

All my brain MRI's show white matter lesions of a nonspecific demyelinating disease  The neuros said this is normal for age?  Has anyone ever heard of this being normal?  I passed my swallow test so the last neuro ruled out MS.  I guess this is failed neck surgery but my head is completely numb which does not really correlate with my neck as we all know the cranial nerves are in our brains.  This is just crazy!  I am just miserable and am afraid ...

Ok now I am so paralyzed when I stick my tongue out it jerks rapidly by itself.  Went to the ER yesterday and they thought it might be myasthenia gravis  or Guallain-Barre and sent me home?  I have yet to see another neuro but I think my time is about up.  This is really scaring me now. ...

This illness has permanently deformed my face. Can you believe it?  The neuros that saw me are trying to blow this off as a "conversion disorder" when I know it is Guallain-Barre.  That is the only thing that can paralyze your spine and facial muscles as I do not have MS or ALS to my knowledge. I could die from this as all my facial muscles are paralyzed. I can barely eat.   I am going to see yet a 4th neuro and when I get this diagnosed I am filing a mult ...

Would you please pray for me.  All my muscles are paralyzed from head to toe incuding face.  Neurologists do not know what it is and do not care. I know this has to be Guallain-Barre syndrome but the doctors I have seen will not do a spinal tap as I still have leg reflexes except when I lay down.  All my skin is peeling off too like a snake even my moles.  I read somewhere this can happen.  I am so scared for my job and my life and still trying to work like this.&nb ...
