So far, Nurmi's closing argument is lame

Posted: May 3, 2013

Why didn't she borrow her mother's/father's/grandmother's car?  Because it would have been linked right back to her!  I actually feel kind of sorry for these defense attorneys.  They have little to work with.

;

I agree. I don't know how a defense attorney - can even support someone

that they know actually did the crime, especially one such as this, and then sit there watching the prosecuting attorney do his job, shaking their heads, laughing, giggling, and objecting like he is the enemy. How can they actually sleep with themselves at night knowing they are trying to get a criminal "off." They should be "hung" right along side the perpetrator! JMO.

As public defenders, they're assigned to the cases. Nurmi tried everything he could to get out of repping Jodi but was refused. I'm sure Wilmott was court-appointed as well.

I'm not positive, but, as they are court-appointed, and they are employed by the court, if they were to refuse, I believe they could probably be disbarred or some severe disciplinarian action.

On the upside, win or lose, it has pretty much made Nurmi and Wilmott household names, which will help their private practices when they're up and running.

I think considering the atrocities of this case when they were appointed, they've done a brilliant job considering how little they have to work with.

The one I feel sorry for in all of this is poor Detective Flores. I can't even imagine being trapped with Jodi in that interrogation room listening to her ridiculous stories, knowing she was lying but having to calmly and patently listen to her babble, and then being trapped in the courtroom listening to her babble for 18 straight days on the stand.

I think Flores should be given the option of an early retirement with full benefits for the work he did in this case, lol!

He did refuse the job at first.... - stating that the state did not

pay him enough to take on the case. (obviously no disciplinary action here for refusal). They paid him more. He did not have much to work with, true, but he put very little effort into what he did have to work with. I feel sorry for him, but Wilmott, she became personally involved, shaking her head at objections from Martinez, giving snarky looks when he brought out points that were valid and truthful. She was definitely on Jodi's side...maybe that is why I don't like her. Anyway...I also noticed for a time there that the whole defense table was all dressing alike...i.e. all wearing green, all wearing blue, all wearing white...at the same time...until the media called attention to it, and then it stopped. How immature!

In a response below you stated: "My final and closing argument: All I know is that I am almost 60 years old. There is so much fraud and abuse, and these are programs run by the government. The government can't run these programs effectively. You can't just keep pouring money into something th ...

When the scam called "Affordable Care" - which CLINTON SUPPORTS - hits this electorate between the eyes, you can bet the late-breakers will go for Trump. I hope some newspaper right now is printing up a CLINTON WINS! edition like they did with Truman. We couldn't put her in the dock due to the corruption of FBI Director Comey. We can be her jury now, though...and SHE IS GUILTY. ...

So Glad IDOL Is Over, Become So Lame.May 26, 2011
Nobody deserved to win... and no.. not even James. He could not carry a tune.  Lauren is a good singer, but really, if anyone has watched the show "The Voice", almost every contestant on there was better than anyone on idol this year.  The judges are a total joke, lame, lame, lame.  I used to love this show, but since Simon has left, its a big bore. Also, the voting system is not legit.  Nobody should be able to vote over and over and over.  This show is nothing but a bi ...

American Idol Is So Lame AnymoreApr 20, 2011
This show and judges are such a bore now.  The judges say the same predictable stuff.  Its nothing without Simon.  ...and they love James Durbin, but when he screams that high note, its horrible... horrible.  My friend who teaches music noticed this too.  Listening to him on a CD would be painful.  Why cant people just sing well and that be good enough?  Its all about theatrics, screaming, being different, etc.  I used to love watching Idol.  I am don ...

My Argument With My InsuranceNov 11, 2009
The other day, I got a bill for an ambulance.  I got charged the entire $700+ dollars.  Don't get me wrong - those paramedics were fantastic.  I was having severe chest pain and within seconds, they had an IV inserted, my BP checked, nitro sprayed into my mouth and 1 mg of morphine plus some atrophine in my IV and a nasal cannula. However, I'm being billed the entire amount because the ambulance company is "out of network.".  This will not do.  I dealt with in ...
