Is it possible for women to please sit down on the toilet seat in a public restroom??? I am quite sick and tired of sitting down on a wet seat because some woman decided it's "sanitary" to squat and pee instead of sitting and peeing. Now I have to wipe my buttocks because they are soaking wet, besides wiping myself. To boot, I have now also walked where someone else's pee has squirted (and so have you, HELLO!) Sorry if I sound repetetive, but if we ALL just sat on the dang seat, there would not be such an issue. I guess those of you who choose to just squat and squirt do not even think that you're also walking in SOMEONE ELSE'S URINE on the floor, because they did not sit down, and now have it on the bottom of your shoes. We are all concerned about germs, so if you're not cool with sitting on a bare toilet seat, put toilet paper on the seat and have a seat. If you seriously have an OCD issue or germaphobia issue or whatever else is going on in your brain, at least wipe your pee off the seat and any surrounding flooring you may have splattered on. Nobody wants to sit or walk in your pee. ;

......there are some women who have very poor bladder control and can't help it, and some may not even be aware they are leaving a mess. Probably a good idea to at least wipe down the stool after going. Another idea would be to wipe it down before you go :-)

I got caught by the wet butt once. Never again. I also got caught without any toilet paper once. Now I grab some TP, wipe down the seat, and it's all good.

Women who leave a mess behind them like that are just gross. Plus, who do they think is going to clean that up, the pee fairies?

I don't understand how pee gets all over the seat, but it's wholly unnecessary to pee on the seat, ladies. It's not like we have to aim and besides that--the target is rather big.

Girls don't have to "aim." We can't "aim." Just sit down already. Geez.

Anyone who is disabled/incontinent and is not able to control the incident, you are not to blame. I am focusing on people who have control and choose to squirt in mid-air.

If you choose to squat and squirt, clean up your mess.

Seriously...I agree it is disgusting. Call me prudish but I carry disposable "seats" that I put over the ring and they work like a dream!

No way in he** am I sitting on any public toilet. I most definitely clean up after myself but I will not sit on or touch any public toilet. Do you really think the employees that work there really care how clean their restroom is? All they do is pick up paper towels and make sure it looks neat. I also look at the floor before I walk in there so I am not walking into a puddle of pee. Absolutely gross.

Honestly, I hate using a public restroom to begin with, but sitting in someone else's pee just puts me over the top.

sometimes it is due to not wiping sufficiently, particularly "larger" women who may not be able to reach as far back due to size (no disrespect intended), and when they stand up to pull their pants up, it "drips" onto the toilet seat. No disrespect to larger women, just a fact.

...most of what I see is blatant squirt, all over the seat. I know little things happen that can't be helped. I do feel if you "know" the little thing happened, then you should wipe it up.

I never say "yes" to the glass of water when I'm in a restaurant. I do not want to have to deal with having to "go."

That being said, when I use the public toilet I always check the floor for mess, the toilet for any clogs (many women drop a load and leave it with tons of TP, so nasty!), and if there is TP. I always brings my purse to the bathroom and have tissues, wipes, and hand sanitizer for just such an occasion. I will wipe the seat, sanitize my hands, sit, do my do, and be on my way. If there is wetness on the seat and it doesn't look yellow but clear it could just be water. I've been in places where the toilets auto flush (sometimes before you are done!) and the water is under such high pressure that it splashes up on the seat. So it may not always be pee, just water. But when in doubt, wipe it out.

that was run by a woman. There were professional signs on the inside of each stall door in the rest room that said, "Please do not urinate on the toilet seats." It's sad that grown women have to be reminded not to do that, but I love that our president and CEO took the initiative to address it in such a simple and direct way.

I don't know if there is a connection, but the employee turnover rate at that company is extremely low. ;-)

I sit on the seat because I don't want to pee on the seat or otherwise splatter pee onto surrounding areas (sink, wall, floor).

FYI: There are no mucous membranes that touch the seat when you sit down. Plus, viruses cannot live on DRY surfaces for very long. However, they can and do live on WET surfaces.

Do us all a favor, anyway. Wipe up and dry your mess when you're finished.

Once upon a time at work someone began peeing all over the seat, the back of the toilet, the floor, and ... not kidding ... the WALL behind the toilet. Nearly a foot up above the toilet. Not just a little, either. Most of it. It just dripped. Everyone was livid, including housekeeping. Mind you, this was a hospital staff restroom and seat covers were provided. It was deliberate...no accident.

This chick didn't squat. She bent over, flipped up her dress, and sprayed. She apparently wore no underpants, because she did this really fast and sauntered out the door.

We couldn't figure out who was doing it. One day, I zoomed in there, darted in right after her, and sat in it. People heard me halfway down the hall. I was soaked and had to send someone for a scrub suit. I knew who it was, though. Finally.

I marched to her department and spoke to their secretary, who said they knew she did it, but she terrified them and they were afraid to say anything. I told them that if it happened again, I would report it to administration as aggressive, disruptive behavior posing an infection control hazard.

That turned out to be the icing on the cake. One if many aggressive episodes. They fired her a few days later, escorting her out with armed county sheriffs.

Nobody dared pee on the seats after that.

male physician/boss peee all over the seat, toilet, and floor AND clog the toilet trying to flush paper towels. Not much we could do about it. It's not just the ladies.

Leaving pee all over is inappropriate. Personally, I think it is unbelievably bad manners verging on sociopathic behavior.

I don't care if you sit, squat, or stand, but clean up after yourself. And do NOT pee all over the floor.

We aren't talking about fat lady sprinkles here. I think the OP is describing something much more, and it is deliberate. Like some kind of territorial marking behavior. Ugh.

I'm the OP, and I hadn't thought about any deliberate act, just total inconsideration to others, by those who just to squat instead of sit.

To those people I say, just think about it--you're sitting in someone else's urine when they squat instead of sit.

Far better to just sit, but if you must squat, wipe it up really, really good---that means soap and water or a disinfectant wipe, then dry it off.

I have bad knees. I can't squat. Just physically unable. I hate women that pee on the toilet seat and leave it like they think it's my job to clean up after them. Rude, crude, and socially unacceptable.

Just as aside, peeing on the toilet seat seems to be a Tennessee right of passage. All the women there pee on the toilet seat. After I came down to Florida to buy a house and headed back, as soon as I passed over the state line back into Tennessee I stopped in the rest area. All the toilets had pee on them. I knew right then I was back in Tennessee. Happiest day of my life was seeing Tennessee in my rearview mirror a month later. Florida is somewhat better since we're all old and crippled down here and have to sit to pee.

I have some unknown neurologic condition. I now have no reflexes eliictable in my lower legs, my head is numb and I have copious fluid pooling in my mouth.
