DRAGON STRIKES AGAIN!!

Posted: Nov 16, 2012

Just heard from someone I know who used to work for a Sutter Health multispecialty clinic in Palo Alto, CA, whose Transcription Department closed down in June when they implemented Dragon Voice Recognition.  Dragon is sure an appropriate name for that software, because every where it goes, it burns down entire transcription departments.  Be afraid, be very afraid.

Don't be afraid..be prepared. This is exactly what we have been expecting for a while. If you let it put fear in you, you lose.

you can "be prepared" all you want... - anon

it is still taking jobs away and anyone who has done it knows that the editing part pays diddily squat and that too will end eventually. We have already lost. Don't put hope where there is none. btdt.

By preparing I mean retrain doing something else. If you know its coming, don't sit there and wait for it to smack you. Instead of being reactive, be proactive. YOU are in charge of your own destiny. Whining about it isn't going to change anything. Jeesh...
Retrain? What companies do you know of that will - hire 60-something newbies to the field?

Good ol' Sutter Health! (NOT!) - s/m

That HMO is not only burning down transcription departments everywhere, they also seem to be putting an end to full-time employment. No matter what the available job is at a Sutter facility, it never seems to be full time anymore. Nothing but per-diem, part-time, on-call, and temporary.

BAH! SKINFLINTS!!!

That HMO ruined what used to be a good clinic. - Now its just your average McMedicine.

I worked for SH for 14 years in transcription. Lost my job Sept 14. Got replaced by Powerscribe 360 for Radiology by Nuance Dragon Medical program. Now the radiologist create their own crappy reports with HUGE errors were we were held to much higher standards than they are! I guess of the doctors create their own reports for free and they can get rid of our wages and healthcare, they don't care about quality or standards.

they can't kill the 18 terrorists in Libya who are responsible for the attacks on the consulate.  Holder DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH EVIDENCE.  He also wants them to have a criminal trial over here - what??  - because he can't send them to Gitmo, because, oh who knows, maybe because Gitmo was supposed to be closed by now.  I think it's just because he doesn't like killing Muslims.  Americans, okay.  This team of thugs and incompetents really ne ...

Federal Court Strikes Down Texas Voter ID LawAug 30, 2012
It was the state's second major loss in court in three days, coming after a separate federal panel ruled Tuesday that Texas' Republican-dominated Legislature failed to avoid "discriminatory purposes" when drawing new maps for congressional districts and both houses of the state Legislature to reflect the Texas' booming population. A report by the Brennan Center for Justice, a nonpartisan legal think tank in New York, determined that new voting restrictions could suppress the vote ...

Appeals Court Strikes Down Obama Recess AppointmentsJan 25, 2013
Really? You mean the courts are finally going to start doing their job? A federal appeals court said Friday that President Obama overstepped his authority with a series of recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board. The case may wind up in the Supreme Court and determine how far the president can go in appointing people whose nominations would be filibustered in the Senate.
