Kanopy May be Free at Your Library, Too - Killer Angel

Posted: Sep 13th, 2020 - 11:45 am In Reply to: Replacements for Netflix - Here You Go

Kanopy has some of Criterion and some of PBS for free. There are a lot of documentaries and foreign and independent films. Hoopla is much the same, but I think has more television.

It depends on your library, of course, but you will probably get more "borrows" per month with Hoopla (I get just 5 for Kanopy and 15 for Hoopla, for example). These digital services are fairly expensive for the libraries. The problem with the television shows on Hoopla is that it is one borrow per episode, NOT one borrow for the season.

All that being said, it is fun to poke around in both services to see what they have. New things are added weekly.

Is either service offense-free? Probably not, but then, what is?
