"you have no right" - anon

Posted: Mar 16th, 2020 - 8:55 pm In Reply to: If you are now on SS, then you better take that GFM down. - You have no right to have that still up SM

I found your post and the others very typical of past comments.

Your words: "You ought to know how the MT world is, not many of us have a dime to spare, yet you have the nerve to suggest we feel guilty for not donating to you."

I think the karma comment was in regard to the OP having been personally "bashed" by other posters over the past year and not in regard to anyone who didn't donate to the GFM website.

I do recall several posts being rather hostile and cruel included in the very long thread that ran on and off over the past year. In that long thread, there were numerous posts taking the OP to task for any number of things...

1. Why didn't you plan better for your life?
2. Why didn't you change careers?
3. Why did you move all the way across country without a plan?
4. Why haven't you applied for state aid?
5. Why haven't you gone to churches and homeless shelters?
5. Why haven't you applied for this job and that job?
6. Why don't you put your dogs in a shelter or up for adoption?
7. Why, why, why...

I can't for the life of me understand why the OP was criticized and dragged through the mud for simply requesting help here in this forum that represents the industry in which she was once employed as an MT and then for starting a GFM account.

It literally made me cringe to read so much vitriol and contempt going toward someone asking for help after an unfortunate series of setbacks in life, one of which included the downturn in the MT industry. This is really no different than what continues to happen to many people in this country. Do all the homeless in this predicament who ask for help deserve such ridicule and judgmental attitude? People are doing what they can to survive in this harsh economy, and worse chance do they have to turn things around if they are in their 60's and female. That she eventually started up a GFM account, I see nothing wrong with that. No one is forced to donate to any of those campaigns.

At least the OP was always careful to show an accounting of her expenses paid with donated funds and whatever wages she earned were also showed on her GFM page. In fact, there were times when she actually gave money back when an expense ended up not being as much as originally anticipated. Does that sound like someone being fraudulent and greedy?? No, I didn't think so.
