Just had to comment on your advice, especially the point made about devoting energy to the good people in the OP's life so as to have some joy - That is such profound advice and so very, very true. We can put ourselves through so many guilt trips where family is concerned and will stay in situations that leave us feeling used, angry, discouraged and overall depleted to the point of missing out on the joy of life...
I hope the OP will consider self-preservation. Maybe in a roundabout way, without OP acting as the stabilization point in the family, it will force the others to have it out once and for all with each other - a kind of make it or break it session. And when all that starts happening, I think I'd get out of town for a while and be incommunicado!
