She is an adult and you don't need to explain her behavior. I understand your pain, fear and frustration, but if anyone at your gathering asks about her, just tell them "She is an adult, doesn't live with me, I can't answer for her. You will need to ask her about your concerns." Or something to that effect. You don't need to explain your daughter to your family. Try to find a a few nonjudgmental family members to sit with and enjoy as much as you can.
